The Easy Concert Pieces series contains easy to moderately difficult works for double bass with piano accompaniment. Arranged according to the level of difficulty in three volumes, there are representative pieces for all epochs that are suitable for auditions, competitions or examinations. In addition, the Easy Concert Pieces serve as a motivating supplement in the classroom. All pieces are included in the booklets for download, as a full version and as playback (piano accompaniment). Volume 1 (ED 22551) contains pieces in the half and first position. Pieces for each individual position as well as pieces with change of position are offered in each epoch. Light bowing styles such as portato, staccato and legato as well as pizzicato are worked on, as well as simple dynamic gradations from piano to forte, crescendo and decrescendo and light phrasing. The selected pieces have varied characters with catchy melodies, different meters and various simple rhythms.

This volume continues the development of playing skills found in Book 1 and progresses to more complex rhythms, left-hand finger patterns and techniques, bowing techniques, and preparation for shifting. Book 2 introduces students to: long and controlled bow strokes, slurred legato and staccato bow strokes, string-crossing slurs, and producing dynamic contrasts; new rhythmic patterns including dotted notes, triplets, sixteenth notes, swinging eighth notes, and syncopated rhythms; new time signatures including 6/8 and 3/8, along with cut time for cello/bass; and major and minor left-hand string patterns, extended fingerings, and beginning octave harmonics and shifting. Picc ola musica profonda entstand für die Kontrabassklasse von Jürgen Michel an der Städt. Clara-Schumann-Musikschul e Düsseldorf, insbesondere für den Einsatz bei Jugend musiziert. Der erste Satz Canzonetta profonda kam im Jahre 2016 bei diesem Wettbewerb zur Uraufführung. Laurenz Radig spielte beim Regionalwettbwerb Düsseldorf und beim Landeswettbewerb NRW in Altersgruppe 3. Ihm wurde der Sonderpreis des DTKV Düsseldorf/Mettmann für die beste Interpretation eines zeitgenössischen Stückes zuerkannt. Begleitet wurde er am Klavier von Susanne Ankener-Maczewski. Die maßvollen technischen Anforderungen der drei Sätze schließen neben den traditionellen Bogen- und Grifftechniken auch natürliche Flageoletts ein sowie ein Flageolett-Glissando.
