La légende de Ratu Kidul nous emmène dans l?univers de la mythologie indonésienne sur l?île de Java.La reine des mers du Sud était au départ une princesse aussi bienveillante que belle. Fille du roi Prabu Munding Wangi la cour entière et ses sujets l?adoraient de même que son père le roi. Elle s?appelait Dewi Kadita mais on la surnommait souvent Dewi Srengenge ' la princesse en colère '. Munding Wangi souhaitait vivement avoir un héritier mais la mère de Dewi Kadita ne pouvait le satisfaire. Il prit donc une seconde femme nommée Poetri Moentiara qui était fort jalouse de la belle princesse et de sa mère. Elle supplia le roi de les bannir toutes deux de la cour mais ilrefusa car il aimait sa première femme et sa fille. Sa seconde femme lui donna un héritier mais le monarque ne céda pas. Alors Poetri Moentiara fit appel à une puissante sorcière Djahil et lui promit une forte récompense si elle arrivait à faire bannir Dewi Kandita et sa mère de la cour. Djahil réfléchit un moment et leur jeta un rapal (un maléfice) avec ces mots : « Que la lèpre vous touche toutes les deux ».La mère et sa fille furent bientôt affectées par cette terrible maladie. Selon la loi du pays elles devaient quitter la cour pour vivre dans une forêt au sommet des montagnes. Le coeur lourd le roi Munding Wangi appliqua la loi. Déjà couvertes de lésions les deux femmes gagnèrent la forêt. Une grande tristesse envahit le peuple sauf Poetri Moentiara la seconde femme du roi qui avait atteint son but. Dans la forêt vivait un ermite qui eut pitié de la mère et de sa fille. La reine littéralement malade de honte mourut au bout de quelques jours laissant Dewi Kandita seule au monde. L?ermite lui avait offert un abri dans un temple creusé dans la roche il pansait ses plaies et lui donnait à manger mais il ne pouvait soulager son immense chagrin. Finalement de plus en plus amère Dewi Kandita quitta l?ermite. Elle marcha vers le sud de village en village pour enfin arriver sur les côtes des mers du Sud. Elle grimpa sur une haute

In the tripartite 'Cowboy Suite' Alan Laken takes us to the Wild West the domain of cowboys indians trappers and other fortune hunters. Around 1890 the west coast of America was reached which in effect meant the end of the Wild West. Its stories however survived and have been a source of inspiration for many books films and of course music. Some characters such as Jesse James Billy the Kid and Buffalo Bill are forever linked to these tales. In the 'Cowboy Suite' we first hear the 'Hoedown'. At the end of an exhausting workday the labourers used to lay down their tools among others the 'hoes' and spontaneously began to play music on the instruments which they then possessed (guitars fiddles and banjos) and to dance. After being jolted on the 'Wagon Trail' we reach the third part the 'Cowboy Roundup'. In this last part it becomes clear that as a cattle driver it is imperative to stay firmly seated in the saddle. As the cattle are rounded up i.e. driven together spectacular things happen.

Pride of the Maroon Dragons features a variety of articulations for the trumpets and upper woodwinds in the first strain, and a bold melody for the low brass and low woodwinds in the second. The trio features a smooth, legato melody in the clarinets and horns, followed by a melodic refrain in which every section has something important to say.
