Edited by C.H. Trevor this book selectively compiles 27 intermediate standard pieces for organ. Although the pieces have suggestions for registration on an organ of two (and sometimes three) manuals all the pieces can be played effectively on a one-manual instrument with appropriate stops. The pedals can be used at the player's discretion. Composers such as Purcell Handel Charpentier Chauvet and Franck all appear in this edition which boasts music spanning 200 years and more.

Franck mourut au début du mois de novembre 1890 des suites d?un accident de circulation survenu en mai 1890.

Il avait probablement déjà commencé le travail sur les trois Chorals en 1889, avant son accident. On sait néanmoins que la finition se prolongea jusqu?en automne 1890. Franck ne put toutefois plus surveiller la mise sous presse de la première édition, puisqu?elle parut seulement en 1892.

The Organ Plus One series was specially conceived for semi-professional church musicians and instrumentalists. It takes its bearings from the liturgical calendar and the pieces can be easily played in church services evening recitals or small concerts. Included are pieces which are freely-composed or based on chorales either original works or arrangements by the editor. In this volume the works relate to hymns of the Reformation including some composed by Martin Luther. Enclosed in each edition are solo parts for C B-flat E-flat and F which can be played by Violin Flute Oboe Clarinet Trumpet and Horn in F. For use in church services the chorale preludes are provided with accompaniments in the keys of the Lutheran hymnal.

The Faber Early Organ Series is among the most comprehensive anthologies of early organ music ever published. In 18 volumes it spans two centuries and six geographical regions presenting a broad and balanced view of the main forms styles and composers. Variations for Piano Op.27 arranged for OrganIt may come as a surprise to learn that Anton Webern?s delicate refined and intimate music can be transferred to the organ. Xavier Darasse (1934-1992) a pupil of Duruflé and Messiaen has produced an organ adaptation of the famous three-movement Piano Variations Op.27 (1936) a groundbreaking composition in serial music. His arrangement is accompanied by judicious registration marks and division of the manuals. The result is fully convincing making this late work with its chamber-like atmosphere attractive to organists.Darasse?s adaptation is now presented to the public for the first time. from the Opera 'Tannhauser'-During his time in Weimar (1848 1861) Liszt developed a then entirely new organ style which stands out for both orchestral and pianistic elements. Together with the choirmaster Alexander Wilhelm Gottschalg (1827 1908) from Tiefurt he regularly initiated so-called 'organ conferences'. And it was at the suggestion of Gottschalg that the present arrangement of the Pilgrim's Choir from the opera 'Tannhäuser' was written. With his version for organ Liszt by means of this example laid the foundations for the (not always undisputed) tradition extending to the present day of organ transcriptions from the operas of Wagner. 'Organistic' elements in the Pilgrims' Choir are theclassical chorale theme the solemn 'sacred' atmosphere of the solemn tempo as well as the expressive cantability. The linear intensification from the antiphonal-organ-like piano dolce of the beginning to the 'full organ' can be realized in a convincing manner with an orchestrally conceived three-manual organ with the sensitive use of the swell box and the successive seamless build-up of the crescendo pedal being of particular significance.
