Elegy: Echoes of Lives Past (Élégie : Échos de vies d?antan) est l?une des deux pièces commandées par Koninklijke Fanfare Kempenbloei Achel (dirigée par Ivan Meylemans) dans le cadre de son programme pour le Concours « World Music Contest 2022», qui s?est tenu à Kerkrade, aux Pays-Bas. L?orchestre a gagné le premier prix de la division « Fanfare Concert Division ». Cette ?uvre s?ouvre avec un choral sombre pour quintette de saxophones (pouvant être situé ailleurs que sur scène) agrémenté de solos expressifs par le bugle et le baryton. Un court interlude par les cuivres mène à un second choral plus optimiste, accompagné par des arpèges, par l?ensemble des saxophones. Ce passage est repris par les cuivres sous les figures fleuries des saxophones, pour aboutir à un dramatique climax qui est interrompu par un brusque changement d?ambiance rappelant les solos de bugle et de baryton du début. Vous avez le choix de deux conclusions possibles, selon la position du quintette de saxophones du début ? sur scène ou non. In Olli Koskelin's 7 Haiku for flute and guitar the haiku gets three different interpretations: intertwined with the composed version the performers improvise it and read it out loud. The texts of haiku are included in English and in Finnish. Duration: c. 15' This product is a B4 sized folder with two copies of the performance score (loose pages). Olli Koskelin's (born 16 April 1955) compositional output reflects a wide range of interests. The vast area covered by his style encompasses the neo-impressionism of the piano work Courbures (1989) to the post-expressionist echoes of his Music for String Quartet (1981) as well as the breakneck virtuosity of his clarinet piece Exalte (1985/1991) and the rich romantic textures of his orchestral piece ... like a planet silently breathing... (1993). He often uses the overtone series like the French spectral composers and avoids dramatic culmination. Par MASSENET JULES. Cendrillon (Cinderella), with a libretto by Henri Cain based on Perrault's fairytale, premiered in 1899 in Paris. Best known for composing over thirty operas, the composer, Jules Massenet (1842-1912) purposely did not attend the premiere, but received a telegram the following day from baritone Fugère recording its triumph. Incorporating the composer's sense of humour and wit, the use of recurrent motifs is subtle and often thought to be inspired by Richard Wagner. Cendrillon contains musical echoes of the 18th century, incorporating gallant music, the use of the Lute and Viola D'Amore and a series of Balletentrees. The Opera is in four acts with 19 characters and a chorus. The role of Prince Charming is a breeches role whilst the melody lines of the Fairy Godmother are characterised by trills and arpeggios. Symphonie Fantastique, written in 1830, is also autobiographical: he subtitled the work Episode in the Life of an Artist. The symphony echoes his feelings for an actress. L?orchestre a gagné le premier prix de la division « Fanfare Concert Division ». Cousine d?une autre ?uvre du compositeur, Music of the Spheres (qui s?ouvre « before time » [avant l?heure] en t=0), cette pièce débute avec des gammes chaotiques et des groupes d?accords denses rappelant l??uvre précédente. Après un passage multi-métrique rythmique, un air « diabolique » en 7/8 apparaît dans les saxos avant d?être repris par l?orchestre entier. La texture se dissipe soudainement pour introduire une série de clusters par les bugles qui s?amplifie sous un ostinato rapide par les saxos. Des interruptions par les cuivres graves se transforment en nouveau matériel qui mène à un choral en mineur agrémenté d?ornements fleuris par les saxos. Les passages du début sont ensuite réintroduits jusqu?à la réapparition du choral par l?orchestre entier, le tout menant à une coda triomphale. Par FERRARIO PIETRO. Jubilate Deo was written an June 2002, and dedicated by the composer to his Ensemble vocale Calycanthus. The first world performance took place in Italy at Isola Vicentina – Santuario di S. Maria del Cengio, by the Ensemble vocale Calycanthus, on May 2003, 10th. The piece was unanimously awarded the first prize at the International Trophy of Choral Composition “C. A. Seghizzi” 2004 at Gorizia [Italy], and was performed during the prestigious final of the European Choral Grand Prix 2004 by Ars Cantica Choir. The motet has a great rhythmic vivacity, with rich and colourful harmonies. It has a simple structure A-B-A’. The contrasting central section is more meditative, with manysolos, and echoes from Gregorian chant.
