Kantate Zum 3. Weihnachtstag. Par BACH JOHANN SEBASTIAN. The cantata 'Ich freue mich in dir' was first performed during Bach's second year as Thomaskantor, on the 3rd day of Christmas, and belongs to the so-called annual cycle of chorale cantatas. Here the focus of the composition is the hymn of the same name by Philipp Ziegler, in which the first and final strophes were adopted, word for word, in the first and sixth movements of the cantata. The soprano, which carries the chorale, is supported by the conrnett [Zink], which already at this time had become a seldom-used instrument. The joyful, lively choral movement with instrumental interludes directly follows the first aria, and begins with a marked, ascending motive at the word'Getrost!' [safely]. The oboes d'amore which accompany the alto lend the movement a special color. In the second aria [for soprano], Bach again shows himself to be the master of text interpretation. Ce n'est pas une méthode d'apprentissage, mais une série de 'vignettes', dans lesquelles on pourra choisir un morceau pour une audition, un examen... ou juste pour le plaisir. Au fil des morceaux apparaissent çà et là des éléments particuliers du langage musical, certains communs à nombre d’instruments, d’autres plus spécifiques à la clarinette. Par exemple, et dès la première page, on trouvera des appoggiatures brèves, et aussi une portée sans indication de mesure... Plus loin une note piquée, une syncope, puis deux... In her work she often meets people who walk in the shadow of death and her dealings and thoughts about this are a central part of her writing. This is most clearly seen in “Mörkblå tillit” whose key message is to trust that we will be safe and secureafter passing away in sleep. Jansson’s intention with the music was to enhance this feeling of comforting trust without taking away the seriousness of the subject. “Triptyk” on the other hand describes a journey within a person in three stages which moves from despair, “God, myGod why have I forsaken myself?”, through to hope and faith that God is within.
