from Symphonic Scenes of Chacumbele for Orchestra-Drawing on the composer's profound insight into the Cuban mythological and 20th Century historical figure of Chacumbeles this first symphonic scene depicts the main characters of the myth as youths. The work's musical tapestry is woven from the narrative which is rich in Yoruba mythology and leitmotiffs representing characters and events in the epic.

Parts are available on hire: hire@ewh.dk Programme note Morpheus in the Greek mythology is the most powerful of the Oneroi the gods of dreams. He is the one who sends us our dreams and he may appear to us within the dreams in disguise. Analogous to the logic of dreams in Morpheus everything is interwoven as chains of associations appear to logically lead us from one line of thought to another. Everything seems strangelyfamiliar. But the logic is treacherous and we already feel it may only be valid within the dream. Nothing that appears similar is actually ever really the same. Half awakening we struggle to hold on to a vanishing world we felt we were on the verge of understanding but which we already know will eventually escape us when we fully awake. Everything remains a mystery until the end.   The seven movements/dreamscapes are:   Vortex Trees and Walls Escher (Toccata) Crystal Into the Cloud Non-Euclid Arctica

The title Marchenbilder or Fairy-tale Pictures borrowed from Schumann awakens notions of music which in itself has a pictorial quality. In all the score comprises six Fairytale Pictures the first three of which form the first movement the next two the second whilst the sixth forms the last movement which is linked with the second without a break. The first two pictures have the same duration - one minute each - whilst the remainder hesitantly inerease in length until the final picture is almost five minutes long.For 14 instruments.

Par CAENS. Thierry Caens' Short Studies In The Keys for Trumpet. I am very happy that Hamelle is publishing the collection I have been planning to produce for several years. This collection includes works written or arranged for myself, as well as a representative selection of my own compositions (original works or arrangements). It should be of interest to all kinds of groupings, from the most standard (Trumpet and Piano, Trumpet and Organ, Trumpet and Orchestra, Wind Quintet, Trombone Quartet) to the most unusual (Cornet and Brass Quintet, large Brass Ensembles, Trumpet and Trombone with Organ), and it of course also includes teaching material(studies, exercises, competition pieces). New Version 1994. Par HENZE HANS WERNER. Symphony No. 6 was created in the late 1960s, and was first performed in Havana on 26. November 1969 by the Cuban National Orchestra under my direction. This symphony reflects not only the excited atmosphere of awakening during those years but also my efforts to include in the composition the large number of new human and artistic stimuli that I experienced at that time. So the banjo starts to play a Vietnamese song of freedom ('Stars in the Night'), later the first bars of Mikis Theodorakis hymn of freedom is heard. The second movement is based on the poem 'Fe de erratas' (errata sheet) by Miguel Barnet. In the original version, the three parts of the symphony merge without interruption. In the revised version, I separated them to make it easier for the audience to register the caesuras which are also internal caesuras as regards content. Apart from strengthening the string sound, the most significant alternation in comparison to the first version is that I fully composed all of the 'aleatoric' passages and pitches which originally were to be freely improvised as was the fashion at that time.
