for baritone and chamber
orchestra, I became
enamored with many of the
poems from his
collection, The Leaves of
Grass. I had not
revisited Whitman's
poetry since high school
and that distance
provided a fresh look at
Whitman's poetry. In the

back to this collection
and decided to write
another work inspired by

time for chamber
orchestra alone. Writing

Body of Christ, we become
his body and so make him
present to others through
our action in the world.
This gentle piece can
also be sung as a solo
piece, with unison choir,
or even by the assembly
once they have become
familiar with it.
