Programme Note City Solstice celebrates the 800th anniversary of the construction of variousbridges  on the site of the current London Bridge. The difficulty of erecting sturdy  constructions on this bend in the Thames where the currents are particularly  strong has led to a rich seam of stories aboutthe bridges passed on through  history myth and folklore.What are thought to be the original words of 'London  Bridge is falling down' carry much of the references to materials used in building the original bridges- wood  and stone gravel and stone and then later iron and steel. The lines my fair lady   dance over my lady lea (or lee ) and with a gay lady are thought to refer to Matilda of  Scotland (c.1080- 1118) consort of Henry I and who was responsible for  building the series of bridges that carried the London toColchester road across the River Lea.King (Saint) Olaf II of Norway figures prominently in the destruction of the bridge  after its occupation by the Danes around 1013. Coming to the assistance of Aethelred Olaf isthought to have pulled the bridge down into the Thames along  with its occupying Danes rather than fight on the bridge itself. La capacité de frapper la corde de manière efficace et produire un son clair est primordiale. Gauche technique est ensuite abordé avec des notes sur les trois cordes aiguës en première position. Utilisation du pouce est également couvert brièvement. Léger relief se présente sous la forme de petites quantités de travail glissando et percussion. Dynamics sont ensuite introduits sur une base stable de notes, suivie par des altérations (clé de sol).Le livre est complété par des accords et arpèges, donnant à l'élève une chance de 'sièges échanger' avec l'enseignant et jouer le rôle d'accompagnateur. Ailleurs, l'enseignant peut accompagner l'élève avec les accords proposés, soit en jouant la note fondamentale ou les voicings complets que notée. The Vocal Score for True Fire by Kaija Saariaho, composed in 2014 and arranged for Baritone Voice and Orchestra.True Fire was commissioned by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, NDR Sinfonieorchester, BBC Symphony Orchestra and Orchestre national de France. The composition is a setting of five texts, three of which are from renowned transcendentalist poet Ralph Waldo Emerson's Spiritual Laws. The other texts are Irish poet Seamus Heaney's 'The Spirit Level', Songs of the Tewa and a piece of writing by Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish. This beautiful work was first performed at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles on the 14th of May 2015. / Baryton Et Piano

Earthlight was commissioned by Chester Music Festival 2008 and given its premiere at Chester Cathedral on July 25th 2008 by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the Chester Festival Chorus conducted by VasilyPetrenko.

This work was commissioned by the Cheshire County Council for the 900th anniversary of Chester Cathedral for performance at the Chester Summer Music festival 1992.The opening melody on the solo cello representsiconographyically the parable of the guest who had no fitting wedding garment and was not admitted to the feast. In the Orthodox Church The Heavenly Bridal Chamber is an especially important theme from Monday to Thursday ofHoly Week as we prepare for the Passion and Resurrection of Christ.
