In the same year, he won the Young Concert Artists International Competition and succeeded his teacher, Stanley Hasty, as Principal Clarinet in the Rochester Philharmonic, a position he held for twenty years. Webster has performed with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the 92nd Street Y, with the Tokyo, Cleveland, Muir, Ying, Enso, and Dover String Quartets, and with the festivals of Marlboro, Santa Fe, Norfolk, Chamber Music Northwest, Angel Fire, Steamboat Springs, Park City, Sitka, Kapalua, Bowdoin, Orcas Island, Skaneateles, La Musica di Asolo, Stratford, Victoria, and Domaine Forget.As soloist he has appeared with many orchestras, including the Philadelphia Orchestra under Aaron Copland and the Boston Pops under John Williams. His travels have taken him as performer and teacher to most of the 50 states, as well as Canada, Mexico,Puerto Rico, Central and South America, Europe, Japan, China, Australia, and New Zealand. Webster was Acting Principal Clarinet of the San Francisco Symphony, and has served on the clarinet and/or conducting faculties of New England Conservatory, Boston University, University of Michigan, and the Eastman School, from which he earned his three degrees. Currently he is Professor of Music at Rice Universityâ??s Shepherd School of Music and Artistic Director of the Houston Youth Symphony, which has won multiple first prizes in national performance competitions.With his wife, flutist Leone Buyse, and pianist Robert Moeling, he plays in the Webster Trio, which has recorded his arrangements on Tour de France and World Wide Webster for Crystal Records. Otherarrangements were recorded for Nami and Camerata Tokyo in Japan with pianist Chizuko Sawa. Webster has also recorded for Albany, Arabesque, Beaumont, Bridge, Centaur, CRI, and New World. Towso n University Director of Bands and Orchestras Cicconi is much in demand as guest conductor and clinician, in addition to preparing future music educators for their own careers. Cicconi last year arranged Leshnoff's orchestra work Rush for concert band (495-00012), giving the premiere with his own Towson University Symphonic Band. Four Dances (Waltz, Pavane, Chas Tanz, and Furlana) was composed in 2014 as a string quartet, has been transcribed for chamber orchestra, and is now made available as saxophone quartet by Cicconi. ‘P lateau of Dances with a Scottish Flavour’ Plateau of Dances with a Scottish Flavour was composed in autumn 2016, Eastbourne, and is inspired by my childhood in Doune, Perthshire; as well as the Ceilidhs and Fèis (cultural festival in the Highlands) my daughter, Clara, and I were immersed in when we lived in the picturesque village of Kingussie, Badenoch and Strathspey. The four dances are a celebration of my love and nostalgia for Scotland, and an expression of my family’s Scottish memories. Each dance comes with a quote from my favourite poet, Robert Burns, whose insightful and sensitive observations are a poignant appreciation of everyday life. Why the reference to Scottish food? Because this piece is dedicated to my father, Papou, who appreciates a merry supper. The 1st Movement, 'To the Mighty Haggis', is a Strathspey with its characteristic Scotch snap -a short-long rhythm, as if saying the word ‘haggis’; which is fitting as the Scottish bard’s quote comes from his poem Address to a Haggis, traditionally said on Burns’ Night. The 2nd Movement, 'The Humble Shortbread', is a Reel; as is usually the case in Scottish dances. It should be played with a slightly ‘snappy’, swung rhythm. 'What though on homely fare we dine, [...] A man is a man for all that' comes from my favourite Burns’ poem: A Man's a Man for A' That. And who doesn’t enjoy the humble shortbread? There is a more reflective, nostalgic mood to the 3rd Movement, 'Ode to the Homely (salty) Porridge'. The Air is a reminiscence of the quiet evenings Clara and I would spend in Kingussie, with our view of the beautifully haunting mountains. 'What will I get to my supper, [...] Ye'se get a panfu' o' plumpin parridge' comes from Burns’ The Shepherd’s Wife who tries to entice her husband back home with the promise of porridge (the Scottish way: with salt). Finally, the 4th Movement, 'Too Many Drams of Whisky', is a cheerful and lively Jig. It’s the convivial merriness of being with friends and family, maybe at a Ceilidh, with a wink to Scotland’s ‘water of life’. 'We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet, For auld lang syne' comes from Burns’ famous Auld Lang Syne: a fitting end to our musical and culinary tour of Scotland.

Une reprise du thème mène le développement vers une conclusion colorée.HAURRAK IKA SUZUELa gaieté se manifeste dès lâ??introduction de cette danse traditionnelle caractère ostinato ternaire. Lâ??accompagnement de la quatrième voix nous plonge dans un mouvement de valse malgré le chiffrage de mesure en 6/8. La mélodie est alternativement exposée par les première et quatrième voix tandis que les deuxième et troisième voix, plus discrètes, développent un soutien harmonique.BOUBLITCKHYCet te danse aux accents typiquement russes est particulièrement intéressante dans la mesure où elle permet aux instrumentistes dâ??élaborer une lecture très personnelle. Malgré les indications de tempos, lâ??interprétation reste libre, dégageant un charme unique mêlant joie et nostalgie.DANSE BASQUE ESPAGNOLEDès les premières mesures de cette charmante Danse basque espagnole, la musique dépeint lâ??ambiance de cette magnifique région dâ??Espagne. Lâ??introduction lâ??unisson affirme admirablement le mode mineur quand survient, le mode Majeur. Le contraste est saisissant. La mécanique dâ??opposition entre Majeur et mineur sâ??installe et se répète avant dâ??aboutir une conclusion brève mais déterminée.

Lâ??insegnamento di uno strumento è spesso individuale. Seppure necessario, questo approccio resta insufficiente per rispondere alle esigenze pedagogiche di oggi.
