ISBN 9790004184974. 10

inches. What is
also amazing is that the
first text-critical
edition prepared by the
Czech Smetana expert
Milan Pospisil in 1999,
which had entailed an
exhaustive evaluation of
the sources and been
given a full
text-critical editorial
treatment as a Eulenburg
study score, had no
resonance of any kind
among performers since no
performance material had
been published. After 15
years, Pospisils edition
is finally being
completed in a manner
suitable for practice:
with a conducting score
and orchestral parts
which will ensure that
all future performances
are based on a musical
text that is as reliable
as can
be.
The
work depicts the course
of the river Vltava,
beginning with its first
two sources, the cold and
warm Vltava, and the
confluence of the two
streams that join to form
a single river; then the
course of the Vltava
through forests and
meadows, and through open
countryside where a
peasant wedding is being
celebrated; water-sprites
dance by the light of the
moon; on the nearby
cliffs castles, mansions
and ruins rise proudly
into the air; the Vltava
eddies in the St John's
Rapids, then flows in a
broad stream as it
continues its course
towards Prague, where the
Vysehrad appears, before
the river finally
disappears into the
distance as it flows
majestically into the
Elbe.
Vltava
(The Moldau),
Smetana's best-known and
most frequently performed
orchestral work, was
written between 19
November and 8 December
1874, at a time when
Smetana was already
completely deaf. The
world premiere took place
in Prague on 4 April
1875, but the score was
not published until

Main theme from
Vltava (Moldau) The Czech
composer Bedrich Smetana
belongs to the national
romantic period in music
history. Many of his
works is what we call
'program music', music
that describes specific
events or nature. In 1872
Smetana started writing 6
symphonic poems which was
to musically tell about
his beloved Bohemia and
its people's history. The
second poem, Vltava, the
Czech name of the river
Moldau, describes the
river's course from
beginning to end with all
the happenings along the
way. This arrangement
contains the beautiful
and magnificent main
theme. The music is to be
considered as a national
treasure in the Czech
Republic.

which had entailed an
exhaustive evaluation of
the sources and been
given a full
text-critical editorial
treatment as a Eulenburg
study score, had no
resonance of any kind
among performers since no
performance material had
been published. After 15
years, Pospisils edition
is finally being
completed in a manner
suitable for practice:
with a conducting score
and orchestral parts
which will ensure that
all future performances
are based on a musical
text that is as reliable
as can
be.
The
work depicts the course
of the river Vltava,
beginning with its first
two sources, the cold and
warm Vltava, and the
confluence of the two
streams that join to form
a single river; then the
course of the Vltava
through forests and
meadows, and through open
countryside where a
peasant wedding is being
celebrated; water-sprites
dance by the light of the
moon; on the nearby
cliffs castles, mansions
and ruins rise proudly
into the air; the Vltava
eddies in the St John's
Rapids, then flows in a
broad stream as it
continues its course
towards Prague, where the
Vysehrad appears, before
the river finally
disappears into the
distance as it flows
majestically into the
Elbe.
Vltava
(The Moldau),
Smetana's best-known and
most frequently performed
orchestral work, was
written between 19
November and 8 December
1874, at a time when
Smetana was already
completely deaf. The
world premiere took place
in Prague on 4 April
1875, but the score was
not published until
1880. $67.95 - Voir plus => AcheterDélais: 3 to 4 weeks

contest-worthy adaptation
presents three themes --
The River, Peasant
Wedding, The River At Its
Widest Point -- from
Smetana's 19th-century
symphonic portrait of the
Vltava (Moldau in German)
River which runs through
the Bohemian countryside.
The first and last

German. 'Meine
ersten Klavierstücke'
ist eine Sammlung von 24
liebevoll arrangierten
Kinder- und Volksliedern,
bekannten, klassischen
Klavierstücken sowie
eigenen Kompositionen des
Autors. Sie sind als
sinnvolle Ergänzung zu
den erfolgreichen
Klavierkonzepten 'Meine
erste Klavierschule',
'Meine zweite
Klavierschule' sowie
'Meine dritte
Klavierschule' und für
das erste und zweite
Unterrichtsjahr gedacht.
Die bereits erlernten
Fähigkeiten werden
durch die in den Tonarten
C-Dur, F-Dur, G-Dur,
A-Moll und D-Moll
gehaltenen Spielstücke
unterstützt und
vertieft. Die
Eigenkompositionen aus
den verschiedenen
Bereichen Romantik,
keltische Musik,
Filmmusik und Boogie
Woogie sorgen für
Abwechslung und
Spielfreude. Die
klassischen Stücke
gegen Ende des Buches
stellen dann bereits eine
kleine Herausforderung
dar. Diese wird jedoch
bei einem ausgesprochen
schönen
Klavierstück wie 'Die
Moldau' nach dem ersten
Unterrichtsjahr gerne
angenommen. 'Meine ersten
Klavierstücke' - ein
abwechslungsreiches und
motivierendes
Ergänzungsrepertoire
für Lehrer, Schüler
und Autodidakten. $16.95 - Voir plus => AcheterDélais: 4 to 6 weeks
