Waisenhaus Mass-Mozart had barely turned twelve when he composed and conducted his Missa solemnis in C minor K.139 to inaugurate a new orphanage on Vienna?s Rennweg in 1768.This astonishing early work adheres to the form of a Neapolitan cantata mass in which the separate movements (?Gloria? ?Credo? etc.) are themselves made up of self-contained choruses ariosos and ensembles. This frequently heard Mass is characterized by a sharp contrast between its cheerful underlying C major mood and gloomy dramatic passages in the minor mode.Urtext of the New Mozart EditionStraightforward piano part in the vocal scoreIdeal for church services andconcert performances Full score & performance material (BA4858) and vocal score (BA4858-90) available for saleArrangement for soloists choir & organ (BA7521) for sale

Op. 31 Mwv A 9-Psalm 'Non nobis Domine' / 'Nicht unserm Namen Herr' Op.31 MWV A 9Mendelssohn’s first great orchestral psalm took almost six years to complete from the initial sketches and the first version of 1830 to the final version of 1835. Its premiere which took place at the Leipzig Gewandhaus did not take place until 1838.Unlike his other orchestral psalms Mendelssohn took the Latin words from the Vulgate as his principal text which stems from Psalm 113. When he later prepared his own German translation he made use of Psalm 115 from the Luther Bible. This edition by the leading Mendelssohn authorityJohn Michael Cooper incorporates all the relevant sources. In accordance with the work's genesis the vocal parts are underlaid with the Latin text and the German text appears underneath.Rounding off this Urtext edition are an informative Foreword and detailed Critical Commentary. The piano reduction stems from Mendelssohn himself.- Informative Foreword in the score (Ger/Eng)- Text underlay in two languages (Lat/Ger)- Piano reduction by the composer- Full score & parts (BA9079) and vocal score (BA9079-90) avaialble for sale

Great Credo Mass-The Missa K.257 bears the non-authentic dating 1776 and was presumably composed at the end of 1776 or in the first half of 1777. Like K.262 (246a) it is designated in Leopold Mozart?s handwriting as a Missa longa on the cover page of an early composite manuscript containing the five masses in C major. K.257 is listed there as the last work. The designation ?Missa longa? was intended to point out that this was an extensive full-scale mass. Normally it would have been called a Missa solemnis but Mozart for unknown reasons did not make use of this customary nomenclature. The name ?Credo Mass? is taken from the acclamations of ?Credo? that constantly interrupt thelike-named movement. The dating ?nel mese Decembre 1776? on the autograph of the Missa K. 258 is not authentic; it was most likely written towards 1775/76. On the autograph Leopold Mozart inscribed the title Missa but at the incipit on the old cover of the autograph collection he wrote Missa brevis. This points to the lack of standardization and uncertainty of the nomenclature. Although the work is written in the brevis form it calls for additional instruments besides the usual church trio which assigns it to the genre of the brevis et solemnis mass. B-Flat Major Op.Post.141

Despite the pressures of his teaching position Franz Schubert created a particularly large number of works in the year 1815. Besides around 140 new Lieder he composed the second and third symphonies four stage works the first important compositions for piano the String Quartet in G minor (D 173) and two Masses: the Mass in G major (D 167) and the Mass in B-flat major the object of this edition. Considering that the Mass in F major (D 105) was written from May to July 1814 and the Mass in C major (D 452) during June and July 1816 we can see that Schubert composed four of the six complete Mass settings which have survived from his hand within the short span of twoyears. The Mass was presumably first performed in Lichtental shortly after its completion. The fact that some partly autographic parts the organ part three soprano and three alto parts were made around 1820 seems to point to a second performance. And from Schubert’s brother Ferdinand we know that the Mass was performed a third time at the parish church in Hainburg at the beginning of October 1824 since Ferdinand played the organ on that occasion. The Mass was first issued in 1837 as Opus 141 by the Viennese publisher Tobias Haslinger.Urtext of the New Schubert EditionFull score performance material (BA5621) and vocal score (BA5621-90) available for sale

Charpentier composed ?In Nativitatem Domini Canticum? during his period as maître de musique at the church of St Louis in Paris (around 1690). It is in the tradition of the oratorios of Carissimi and his contemporaries but is more easily described as a ?Grand Motet? or ?Histoire sacrée? a genre in which Charpentier excelled. The work was probably intended for performance during mass on Christmas Day and thus had a liturgical function as was customary during the period of Louis XIV in Paris. The text presents the Christmas story in three sections: the chorus of the faithful the actual story of the birth of Jesus and the adoration ofthe shepherds in the fields. The music reveals a subtle mixture of French and Italian styles with dramatic elements. For the first time this work prepared by the acknowledged Charpentier expert Joel Schwindt is presented in a scholarly-critical edition where all sources have been consulted.A detailed foreword and critical commentary provide detailed information which fulfil all the criteria of an Urtext edition.- First Urtext edition of this work.- An important addition to the repertoire for Christmas.- Straightforward clear Piano reduction.- Foreword (Ger/Eng) and critical commentary (Eng).- Full score performance material (BA7673) & Vocal score (BA7673-90) available for sale.

The Mass is remarkable for its density of invention within the narrowest of confines. Further its instrumental accompaniment has an almost chamber-music quality that emerges time and again into almost symphonic proportions. Urtext of the ?New Mozart Edition? The first page of the autograph of the Mass K.49 (47d) bears below the author’s name the crossed-out (autograph?) suffix “in Wien” (“in Vienna”). “1768” and “in Wien” have been added by two other unidentified eighteenth-century hands.Mozart’s handwriting and the paper quality appear to verify this information. Moreover Mozart sketched the draft of the Gloria (measures 1 to 18) on a piece of paper the reverse side of which his father had used undoubtedly before that for the fair copy of the piano score of aria no. 11 from Bastien et Bastienne K. 50 (46). In Leopold Mozart’s list of works composed byWolfgang up to 1768 “Eine kleinere Messe a 4 vocibus 2 Violinis &c” (“a small Mass with 4 voices 2 violins etc.”) appears as the penultimate entry; the year 1768 was added by Mozart’s sister. Although the obbligato viola is not mentioned there this comnposition is surely the Mass K.49.- Urtext of the New Mozart Edition- Full score performance material (BA4769) and vocal score (BA4769-90) available for sale.

Mozart added two oboes whose parts he wrote out himself and which are enclosed together with the primary copy. The two oboe parts seemto have been unavailable to any copyists.Urtext of the ?New Mozart Edition?Straightforward piano reduction in the vocal score Ideal for church services and concert performances Full score & performance material (BA4851) and vocal score (BA4851-90) for sale
