Par NEWMAN MICHAEL. Hailed by The New York Times as Fresh, Hot and Headed for Fame, The Newman and Oltman Guitar Duo explores the farthest reaches of the ensemble literature, performing and recording the premieres of many new works. As the ensemble-in-residence at New York's Mannes College of Music, the duos concert tours have taken them to forty-nine states as well as to Asia, Europe, South America, Canada, and the Caribbean. Newman and Oltman have collaborated with such diverse artists as mezzo soprano Frederica von Stade and folk singer Sally Rogers, violinist Arnold Steinhardt and fiddler Jay Ungar, Celtic artist Seamus Egan, and the Lark and TurtleIsland String Quartets. The duo's ten critical praised recordings for MusicMasters/BMG and Sheffield Lab Audiophile reveal the extraordinary stylistic and cultural breadth of their repertoire. For this Artist series video Newman and Oltman perform eight Albeniz masterpieces: the complete original Suite espanola (Grandad, Sevilla Cuba,Cataluna), Tango, Rumores de la Caleta (Malaguena), Prelude (Asturias/Leyenda) from Cantos de Espana and the hauntily beautiful Asturie. The music for all of the pieces preformed here is available from Mel Bay Publications as well as with additional selections on the Music Masters BMG CD: Cantos de Espana/Songs of Spain. / Classic - Concert/Documentary / Accessoire / Guitare Classique

Captivating Classics from Argentina Arranged by Diego Collatti Spielpartitur - for 2 guitars - German - English - French Consultant(s)/assistant(s): Giovanetti, Ignacio Gardel's tangos remain classics, which no performer who aspires to be taken seriously can ignore. For this album Argentinian Tango specialist Diego selected some of Gardel's most popular tangos and arranged them for two guitars. The timbre of this instrument is exceptionally well suited to evoking in sound the musical riches of an impoverished community of immigrants in Argentina's past, as well as to making the fascination and glamour of Gardel's tango music come alive again. Both parts are of medium difficulty, and the melodies repeatedly introduce new elements of tone production and rhythm, training young musicians in technique and ensemble playing. And, last but not least, these duets are an ideal introduction to the profound music of the tango, whose vitality and versatility are not only fun, but which also holds totally new means of expression in store. / Partitions classique / Guitare - luth / Guitare / UNIVERSAL EDITION

3 Nocturnes and 2 Interludes For Cello and Guitar. Par HEINIO MIKKO. Mikko Heiniö's Mot natten (Towards night), three nocturnes and two interludes for cello and guitar was composed in 2018. This suite found its inspiration and name in Finnish poet Bo Carpelan's (1926-2011) posthumous poetry collection Mot natten (2013), though the movements are not tied to specific poems. The first nocturne, Obscuro (‘twilight'), dominated by pizzicatos, is followed by a more dynamic interlude, Spasimo (‘spasm'). The fragile second nocturne, Sospiro (‘sigh'), is coloured by delicate micro-interval chords plucked on the guitar between the left hand and the nut. The interlude Passi (‘steps') leads with taps on the sound box straight into the third nocturne, Battito (‘beat'), the way having been paved by the heartbeat of strong guitar pizzicatos. The duration is c. 11'30''. The product includes one full score and separate parts for guitar and violoncello./ Répertoire / Violoncelle et Guitare
