Beethoven, Ludwig van Concerto for Pianoforte and Orchestra no. 5 E-flat major o...(+)
Beethoven, Ludwig van Concerto for Pianoforte and Orchestra no. 5 E-flat major op. 73 Beethoven's fifth and final piano concerto is at the same time the culmination of his efforts in this genre and a reflection of all his artistic skill and expertise. The surviving manuscripts provide a clear insight into his working methods and his intentions regarding the work's performance. The editor, Jonathan Del Mar, has closely scrutinised the autograph solo piano part and reproduced Beethoven's sophisticated performance instructions for the first time in a modern edition. Among other things, this has special repercussions for the left-hand figured bass line of the piano part during the tutti passages. As with the Piano Concertos Nos. 1 to 4, the piano reduction appears with a separate solo part containing all the information needed by the soloist to conduct the ensemble from the piano. ' Many wholly new corrections in the solo and orchestral parts ' Piano reduction with a separate solo part, as was customary in Beethoven's day ' With Beethoven's continuo figures for the first time in a modern edition Edition no.: BA 9025-90 ISMN: 9790006559091 Editor: Del Mar, Jonathan Arranger: Schelhaas, Martin Product format: Piano reduction, Part(s), Urtext edition Includes the following individual parts: Piano, Piano Binding: Paperback Pages / Format: 67/49 S. - 31,0 x 24,3 cm

New Choral Series) Chorale SATB Novello & Co Ltd.
Lully, Lullay was written at the request of Philip Reed, music director of the B...(+)
Lully, Lullay was written at the request of Philip Reed, music director of the Bury St Edmunds Bach Choir, which gave the first performance on 17 December 2011 at Holy Trinity Church, Long Melford, Suffolk. Inspired by the familiar medieval text of the Coventry Carol , it is sung a cappella and invokes the sense of a lullaby through its metre and lilting melody. The fragility and bittersweet tonality of the opening verse is reflected in the continuous interaction between the tonic and dominant keys and resolving dissonances. This develops into broader passages of increased range and dynamics during the second and third verses, where the melody is passed between the upper and lower voices, clearly invoking the poignancy of the text. The last verse returns to the original theme with subtle harmonic changes and a reflective final cadence. An inspiring selection of new works from a range of contemporary composers, the Novello New Choral Series offers pieces for all types of choirs, including sacred and secular works from simple, four-part settings to more expansive, yet accessible, repertoire in an exciting variety of styles. Harriet Wybor was born in Leeds in 1986 and read music as an undergraduate at Durham University, followed by an M.A. in composition with Martyn Harry and António Pinho Vargas. Harriet's main compositional interests are sacred and secular contemporary choral and chamber music, and the relationship between music and time. Her work reflects a wide range of influences from renaissance choral music and medieval texts to 20th-century literature and art. Harriet has had works performed by the Northern Sinfonia (conducted by H K Gruber), Psappha, the Allegri String Quartet, St John's College Choir, Durham, the Bury St Edmunds Bach Choir and the Fishburn Band - broadcast on BBC Radio 2's Listen to the Band . After graduating from Durham University, Harriet continued her studies at the University of Edinburgh, where she read for an LL.M. in innovation, technology and the law. She has subsequently pursued a career in music publishing where she works in copyright and composes in her spare time. / Choeur SATB

Par GAUBERT. Philippe Gaubert (1879-1941) was a distinguished performer on the Flute. It comes as no surprise, therefore, that his compositions for the instrument are at the forefront of the Flute's repertoire, Sicilienne being no exception. After a prominent career as a flautist with the Paris Opera, he was appointed as professor of Flute at the Paris Conservatoire, as well as principal conductor of leading orchestras. It was during this time that Gaubert composed, including his Sicilienne which was published in 1914. Addressing many technical features, including flourishing semiquaver passages, awide range, changing time signatures, chromaticism, a variety in dynamics and dotted rhythms, Sicilienne is a pleasantly inspiring piece for aspiring flautists./ Répertoire / Flûte Traversière et Piano

Born in Erfurt, the composer Edward Mollenhauer (1827-1914) achieved success in America as a soloist and teacher. His best-known pieces for young violinists are 'The Infant Paganini? and 'The Boy Paganini?.Both appear here in their original version for violin and piano and, for the first time, in a transcription for cello and piano by Christoph Sassmannshaus. The Mollenhauer fantasia 'The Infant Paganini? is a charming introduction to early virtuoso techniques. It calls for bowing techniques such as detaché, legato, spiccato and arpeggios over three strings. Players are also expected to play harmonics and pizzicato. This showpiece (BA 10691) can be accomplished by young violinists who can play in first to third position and who are nearing completion of the Sassmannshaus Early Start on the Violin, volume 4.It (BA 10693) can be equally mastered by young cello students who are working with volume 4 of the Sassmannshaus 'Early Start on the Cello? and can manage first to fourth position.'The Boy Paganini? is an impressive concert piece which is more demanding. Its two movements call for changes of metre, harmonics and pizzicato. Other challenges include chords on all four strings and simple passages in octaves. On the violin (BA 10692), the technical requirements call for first to fifth position whereas on the cello (BA 10694), the student must be able to play in first to fourth position. Both violinists and cellists should have completed volume 4 of 'Early Start on the Violin? and 'Early Start on the Cello? respectively in order to master this work. - Popular recital pieces for young violinists and cellists- Both works form an ideal continuation of the Sassmannshaus 'Early Start? methods- Pieces originally scored for violin now also available for the first time for cello / Violoncelle Et Piano

Par BEETHOVEN LUDWIG VAN. After attending the premiere of Beethoven?s stately concerto for violin and orchestra Muzio Clementi approached the composer and requested the work in a transcription for piano and orchestra; his wish was fulfilled in 1807 providing us with not just an alternative version of the composition but also one with authentic cadenzas which Beethoven had not written for the Violin Concerto! This version has waited a long time to be properly edited after the existing sources and the famed Beethoven scholar Jonathan Del Mar has done just that!
Working with all known sources, Del Mar finally presents us with Beethoven?s solo piano articulation and dynamics and Beethoven?s cadenzas. And, for the first time we now have clarity regarding the meaning of Beethoven?s Solo and Tutti markings.
All in all, a groundbreaking scholarly critical edition; a ?must? for every pianist, every orchestra and every music library.
The piano reduction will be presented in a new format:
As customary in the 19 th century there will be a solo piano part containing tutti passages, cues and the piano solo. This part will be inserted ? as with string and wind concertos ? in the piano reduction. This affords the soloist sensible page turns and offers the possibility to lead the ensemble from the piano. The piano reduction will include the reduction of the orchestral score as well as the solo piano part above it in small print. / Date parution : 2022-02-25/ Répertoire / Piano

New Version 1994. Par HENZE HANS WERNER. Symphony No. 6 was created in the late 1960s, and was first performed in Havana on 26. November 1969 by the Cuban National Orchestra under my direction. This symphony reflects not only the excited atmosphere of awakening during those years but also my efforts to include in the composition the large number of new human and artistic stimuli that I experienced at that time. So the banjo starts to play a Vietnamese song of freedom ('Stars in the Night'), later the first bars of Mikis Theodorakis hymn of freedom is heard.
The second movement is based on the poem 'Fe de erratas' (errata sheet) by Miguel Barnet. In the original version, the three parts of the symphony merge without interruption. In the revised version, I separated them to make it easier for the audience to register the caesuras which are also internal caesuras as regards content. Apart from strengthening the string sound, the most significant alternation in comparison to the first version is that I fully composed all of the 'aleatoric' passages and pitches which originally were to be freely improvised as was the fashion at that time. Thus I wanted to free them the realm of chance and indeterminacy and to bring them back into my artistic control.

Par HYYTINEN TOMMI . Tommi Hyytinen (DMus, Finnish horn player and pedagogue) wr...(+)
Par HYYTINEN TOMMI . Tommi Hyytinen (DMus, Finnish horn player and pedagogue) writes about this collections: 'I composed these 30 Etudes for Low Horn to be at the same time instructive and at the same time fun and interesting to play. The etudes consist similar technical challenges than a low horn player confronts in orchestra. The etudes also encompass many of the technical challenges that a horn player encounters in chamber music and in solo repertoire, especially since many of the touring soloists in the 18th and 19th centuries were Cor-Basse players. Some of these etudes are not the most serious in nature in the horn literature, but nevertheless they challenge and develop the playing technique in wide variety of ways. The ambitus of the etudes is very virtuosic, encompassing almost four octaves. Some of the etudes are more melodic and concentrate in lyrical phrasing, legato-playing, sound and intonation, others contain technically tricky passages, articulations and fingerings. Rhythmic accuracy and ?finding the groove' is of utmost importance in all of the etudes. The etudes develop the sound and control of the low register of the horn and flexibility between the registers. These 30 Concert Etudes work as individual pieces or as a set of pieces. You can for example choose a set of etudes and perform them in a concert or matinée. I hope you have as much fun practising and playing these etudes as I had composing them.' / Date parution : 2022-05-31/ Etude / Cor

Par VIVALDI ANTONIO. Throughout his life, Antonio Vivaldi wrote almost thirty instrumental works that use the cello as a solo instrument. Vivaldi knew how to tailor his music to the cello and in doing so, helped to establish this still young instrument in the music of that time.
The Concerto RV 531 is the only double concerto in Vivaldi's 'uvre for two solo violoncellos. The two solo parts take centre stage with virtuosic passages but lie on the instrument so well that they can be comfortably mastered by advanced students.
The edition is based on the careful evaluation of Vivaldi's autograph score which is the main source and several inconsistencies found in previous editions have been clarified. At the same time the edition allows for a flexible realisation of this concerto: it can be performed by a full tutti orchestra or by one performer per part. RICHARD) Violoncelle, Piano Schott
Arrangeur: Florence Eller. Par STRAUSS RICHARD. The Cello Sonata Op. 6 was compo...(+)
Arrangeur: Florence Eller. Par STRAUSS RICHARD. The Cello Sonata Op. 6 was composed over an apparently frequently interrupted period of three years, an extraordinarily long time for Strauss's early creative phase. The compositional process spawned two independent versions of the work, the first of which is published for the first time on the basis of the text in the Critical Edition of the Works of Richard Strauss in the current edition as a practical musical text. The genesis of the two versions and the reasons for revision can only be reconstructed in part: only one of the surviving autographs bears a date and the second version only survives in printed form. What is more, Strauss did not communicate in greater detail on this composition in correspondence with his family and friends.
There are enormous differences between the two versions of the Sonata: Strauss deleted the entire second and third movements Larghetto and Allegro vivace, replacing them with a newly composed Andante and Finale. In the first movement, Allegro con brio, Strauss retained the thematic-motivic material and compositionally complex passages such as the three-voice fugue in the development section (from bar 241 in the first version and bar 275 in the second version) almost intact in the new version of the sonata, but also undertook extensive alterations, particularly in the structure of the piano part, the motivic-thematic development of the movement and its harmony which became far more ambitious.12 Particular attention should be drawn to the repetitive accompaniment of the con espressione theme beginning in bar 32 and the significantly shorter development in the first version.
The current printed edition of the first version of Richard Strauss's Cello Sonata now makes it possible to follow Strauss's compositional development during this period. The significance of the differences between the versions also mean that two sonata compositions for violoncello and piano by Richard Strauss with fundamental disparities in their underlying character are now available for performance.

Par RAMEAU JEAN-PHILIPPE. Rameau’s only extant opera based on a libretto by Voltaire has come down to us in two versions (1745 and 1746), that of 1745 having long been regarded as lost. Volume IV.12 of the “Opera omnia Rameau” now provides a complete edition for the first time and thus the means to perform both versions.
Voltaire refers to Metastasio in his libretto, in that he wanted to liberate the opera from the gallant milieu in order to make it a moralising and at the same time both edifying and political work of art for the stage. Following a prologue dedicated to the personified Envy, the tyrants Bélus and Bacchus are chased out of the Temple of Glory and Trajan is finally crowned with a laurel wreath for defeating the rebels, forgiving them and then transforming the Temple of Glory into a public temple.
The music contains many remarkable passages, examples being a richly orchestrated overture, the famous monologue “Profonds abîmes du Ténare” with obbligato bassoons and Trajan’s artful final scene “Ramage d’oiseaux”.
The opera’s individual instrumental movements are also available in the customary manner now as a practical separate edition.
The performance material is available on hire./ Répertoire / Orchestre
