Stylistic hanges heading towards Romanticism are evident also in the way the work's melodic layer is organise. The Józef Stefani's advanced compositional skills prove his crucial contribution to the evolution of the string quartet on Polish soil. One year after the completion of the 'Quartett-Konzert', Op. 131, Louis Spohr finished his fourth Piano Trio, Op. 133 (1846). The first Piano Trio was greeted by the musical world with 'uncommon joy'. Whilst Spohr often wrote a final movement in virtuoso form in order to secure an effective ending, the strength of the final movement in Op. 133 lies in its pleasant lightness, transparency and rhythmic pithiness. Par RODE / CATHERINE. Part of the collection ; Concertos Classiques, 7th Concerto & 1st Solo is a piece for Violin and Piano by Pierre Rode with an arrangement by Georges Catherine. Relatively difficult, it features the score and the Violin part. Really melodious, it includes numerous trills, harmonies, accidentals, acciaturas and some indications of the positions and techniques to use. The breathings are also indicated. It is a really nice work to play in recitals and can also be used for contests. Pierre Rode (1774-1830) was a French violinist and musician who composed numerous romantic concertosfor Violin and Piano. Any violinist who hears the name Sitt nowadays will probably just think of the author of studies and exercises that have long been a familiar feature in instrumental lessons. Of course the Prague violinist, music teacher and composer Hans Sitt (1850-1922) made a significant impact on methods of violin teaching, but he also wrote a whole series of other works worth listening to: concertos for violin, viola and cello and chamber music for various combinations of instruments. Sitt studied the violin in Prague and was then appointed first as leader of the orchestra and then as musical director in Breslau (now called Wroc?aw).After posts as director of music in Prague, Chemnitz - where he championed the work of Smetana - and Nice, he was eventually appointed professor of violin, orchestral playing and score reading at the Leipzig Conservatoire from 1884-1921. Besides this he also played viola in the Brodsky Quartet, organised concerts and was conductor of the Bach Society. The composers Franco Alfano - who completed Puccini's unfinished opera Turandot- and Frederick Delius studied with Sitt, as did the conductor Václav Talich. Three Album Leaves op. 13 were also composed during his time in Leipzig, published by Bosworth and Co in 1894. Romanesca, #1 in that collection, is a pretty, slightly melancholy piece of music with romantic appeal that draws out lyrical and expressive playing and is thus eminently suitable for tuition purposes and concert performances. / Violon Et Piano

Composed in 1924 for Violin and Luthéal, (A keyboard instrument which never gained much popularity), Tzigane demonstrated Ravel's ability to go beyond his natural Impressionist style, and write a piece which would be much better categorized as Late Romantic. This melodious piece is written in one main movement and is perfect for a recital. Starting 'Très modere' with the main theme, the piece later become quieter 'calme' with some variations of this main theme. Really romantic, it is sometimes indicated which string to play and the Piano accompanies the Violin with some flawless arpeggiated semiquavers.
