Music of Spain and South America for Violin by Allan Alexander contains 44 piece...(+)
Music of Spain and South America for Violin by Allan Alexander contains 44 pieces which can be played solo or with a chord instrument. This great collection includes music from the Spain and South America. Most of the pieces have been extended with variations which make the tunes a more suitable length for performances and are a lot of fun for the violinist to play. Every tune in the book is included on the digitally mastered CD. Though the tunes are very effective as solo material Allan chose to record them with violinist Elena Rojas. Elena has given a skillful delightful performance of the music and Allan has rendered the chords artfully. The result is a reallylovely CD; listening will be a pleasure. For the player who is new to music of Spain and South America the recording will give insights into the melodies and it will allow the violinist who has no access to a chord instrument to hear and play along with the guitar as the violin part can be turned down by fading one channel. For those who know some of these wonderful tunes it will be a joy to have the music and hear them played by two musicians who obviously love to play this music together. The CD which comes with the book has all 44 of the tunes in the same order in which they appear in the book. The CD will give you insights into the music and it will be enjoyable to listen to on its own merit. For additional information be sure to check out Allan's web site.

Deluxe Anthology of Jazz
Violin Style: Violin: Violon Mel Bay

For more than a century, violinists have played jazz, swing, blues and similar improvisational styles. With its rich tone, considerable range, and bowed rhythms and phrasing, the violin offers a unique opportunity for a creative and personal statement as a musician. This book presents a broad sampling of the styles of major jazz violinists, from blues to bebop, from jug band to jazzgrass, from big-band swing to Texas swing. Tunes represent the styles of Stéphane Grappelli, Joe Venuti, Stuff Smith, Eddie South, Mark O'Connor, Benny Thomasson, Jean-Luc Ponty, and Darol Anger. Helpful jazz theory sections with exercises alternate with tunes that show how the theory works in practice. This book has two objectives: first, to present a broad, roughly chronological sampling of major jazz violinists and the styles associated with them, and secondly, to introduce the basics of jazz theory as applied to the violin. Whether consciously or intuitively, through critical listening or by practicing jazz patterns and exercises, the more knowledge of jazz you acquire, the better you will be able to think about the content of your playing without being bound by technical and theoretical aspects. This anthology was written to help provide that foundation. Interspersed with pragmatic jazz theory lessons, you'll find 28 original tunes in the style of various jazz violin luminaries. The book ends with an extensive discography of recommended jazz recordings with a violin focus. Mandolinists as well as other instrumentalists will find a wealth of useful information in this outstanding collection. Delightful broadcast-quality recordings of the repertoire are available online. Includes access to online audio. Written for intermediate to advanced violinists.

Three Nocturnal Movements - For Violin Solo Violoncello Solo And Orchestra by Per Nørgård (2015). Based on Remembering Child for Viola and Orchestra(1986). Premiered by Peter Herresthal (violin) and Jakob Kullberg (cello) with Bergen Philharmonic June 6th 2015 in Bergen Norway. The original version was premiered by Pinchas Zukerman and the St. Paul' s Chamber Orchestra conducted by Arturo di Mecke on September 12th 1986.Programme Note:The news of the tragic death of Samantha Smith reached me in the early stages of preparation for the commissioned work for viola and chamberorchestra. Already an admirerer of this childworker for peace and nuclear disarmament I completed my work strongly inspired by this unique and uniquely symbolic fate of our time. Music from humble sources - including my composition Beach Poppy a choral work from 1960 - are woven into the texture of the composition. I was guided by the original meaning of the word 'remembering' (making whole healing) in opposition to 'dismembering' (tearing apart): The healing power of the child.(Per Nørgård)

Violin Concerto No.3 In G
K.216: Violin: Parts Orchestre, Violon Barenreiter
Mozart composed the majority of his works for solo String Instruments and Orches...(+)
Mozart composed the majority of his works for solo String Instruments and Orchestra during the years 1773 to 1779. Especially important in this context are the years 1773 and 1775 which witnessed the creation of the five concertos for Violin and Orchestra as well as several single movements for the same scoring. The reasons for this flourish of activity in this domain lie partly in the fact that Mozart who still occupied the post of concertmaster to the Prince-Archbishop was either obliged or inspired to provide such works for special occasions during this long period spent in Salzburg. But another reason was certainly the possibility of experimenting withall the new compositional techniques acquired during his third trip to Italy and his stay of several months in Vienna from July to September 1773.The Piano reduction of Mozart?s G Major Violin Concerto is easier to play uncluttered and practical with page turns where you need them and where necessary fold-out pages. The solo part gives players the critical Urtext of the New Mozart Edition. The tutti passages are all presented in normal size print for players wanting to perform these sections with the first Violins. An ossia has been included in small print for the last four measures before the first solo passage to allow for the transition to the solo section.A prepared performance part is also included with bowings fingerings and performance practice comments. An additional brochure is included with todays most performed cadenzas ?Eingänge? and fermata embellishments by Eugène Ysaÿe Leopold Auer Sam Franko and Martin Wulfhorst. This collection offers players a spectrum of styles available in no other publication.Urtext of the New Mozart EditionFull score and parts (BA4865) Violin and Piano reduction (BA4865-90) and study score format 22.5 x 16.5cm (TP272) available for sale.

Tonalité : G-Dur - Woo Vi/5. Par KALLIWODA JOHANN WENZEL. Bohemian-Czech music has always been famous for it’s melodious, extrovert style and lively rhythms. Even the Bohemian church music, which often contains folk-like elements, has this character. With the first publication of the three-voice a-cappella mass by the Prague composer and violin virtuoso Johann Wenzel Kalliwoda, Carus extends it’s Bohemian-Czech repertoire by yet another work: a smooth, predominantly syllabic short mass setting [approx. 13 Minutes], probably composed in the 1850s for the court of the Prince of Fürstenberg, the impressionable G major Mass [with the complete text of the traditional mass] tailor made for being performed in a small court. Described bythe composer as 'short three-voice Mass, within the range of two octaves. ' / Messe / Répertoire / Choeur SAM
