Le nom "MKX" a été choisi pour rendre hommage à ceux qui ont participé et inspiré le développement de cette nouvelle ligne. Les lettres "MK" font référence à la ville de Markneukirchen située dans la région du Vogtland au sud-est de l Allemagne, berceau de la marque Julius Keilwerth fondée en 1925. Bénéficiant d une histoire riche en manufacture instrumentale, Markneukirchen apparaît aujourd hui comme un foyer de spécialistes soucieux du respect des traditions de leurs aïeux, et dont le savoir-faire artisanal est essentiel à la qualité des Saxophones.
De par sa filiation avec le légendaire modèle SX90R, la lettre "X" nous rappelle l influence et l inspiration de ceux qui ont fait la renommée des instruments de la marque. Les MKX et SX90R font parties de la même famille mais proposent chacun des qualités qui leurs permettent de développer des sonorités uniques.

With this in mind, Keilwerth took the technical advantages and improvements of the SX 90, and added some extra features to truly make the musician s instrument his own. The result was the SX 90 R (the R standing for tone hole rings), a saxophone reminiscent of the old Conn and Buescher saxophones of the 1940s.The most striking feature of this saxophone is its tone holes. The SX 90 R uses tone hole rings which are soldered on to the standard drawn tone holes. The tone hole rings give the pads a longer life, and the rings themselves are easier to replace if necessary, because they are a piece separate from the tone hole.
