Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a holiday celebrated in Mexico honoring deceased family members and friends. It is not a time of sadness, but a time of remembrance and celebration. Two folk songs that have been associated with Día de los Muertos, "El Pajarito Verde"(The Green Bird) and "El Zopilote" (The Buzzard), are the inspiration for the arrangement of this celebratory work.
