Acoustic Guitar,Alto Flute,Cello,Horn,Tenor Saxophone,Trombone,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1368317 By Kansas. By Kerry Livgren. Arranged by Jon Thingvall. Pop,Rock. 45 pages. Jon Thingvall #952661. Published by Jon Thingvall (A0.1368317). Seeking a modern setting for a French Horn solo? Is the community--or are the students--feeling that classical music is stuffy? Got a budding Guitar Hero with nowhere to play? Want to give the orchestra a break, without stopping the program completely? Need a relaxed, quasi-Adagio for the concert's pacing? This is a record-copy of KANSAS' classic rock ballad, scored for a fairly small ensemble. Most instruments can be substituted: Flute for Alto Flute, Viola or Cello for Violin, Flugelhorn for the Horn part, or 4 Trombone parts instead of 3 with Solo Horn.Acoustic Guitar (will need amp). (Part copied verbatim from the official video, with thanks to Kansas - Dust In The Wind Guitar Lesson Pt.1 - Intro & Verse (youtube.com))French Horn solo--  Steve Walsh's epic, almost-apocalyptic style seemed perfectly suited to the mystique of the French Horn. (Measure 102 is “as though spoken†like in the recording here:  https://youtu.be/tH2w6Oxx0kQ?t=126. If the audience isn't familiar with Steve's style, it may be better left as a quarter- or eighth-note (written F sharp), but if you've got a Hornist with the chops, I’ve tried to put the articulations in to imitate a spoken voice.)3 Trombones-- Mainly triadic pads, with two instances of 9ths in the upper bass clef.1 Tenor Sax / Double on Alto Flute The Sax will sound great sotto voce to the Horn. The Flute should be as soft as possible, and ethereal.Solo Violin  (Could be sectional, instead of solo.)Solo Cello (Ibid.)The official video has bongos at the end, but I felt the sparse score worked well. They could easily be improvised, if needed.

Piano Quartet Cello,Piano,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1433506 Composed by Ashton Cartwright. 21st Century,Chamber,Contemporary. 28 pages. Ashton Cartwright Music #1013730. Published by Ashton Cartwright Music (A0.1433506). Piano Quartet is based on the peculiar sound of the augmented triad and a push for rhythmic vitality. The piece begins quiet, but intense and quickly escalates. The middle section take a break and explores the eerie nature of augmented triads which leads into the piano feature. The piece then accelerates into a driving finale rhythmically and dynamically with a break for piano cadenza.

Small Ensemble,Strings Harpsichord,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.836700 Composed by Brian Joyce. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 78 pages. Brian Joyce #2881183. Published by Brian Joyce (A0.836700). An 18-minute concerto in three movements for oboe, harpsichord and string quartet. From the program notes . . . .I can imagine readers glancing over a recital program and seeing that it includes a work for oboe, harpsichord and string quartet. They steel themselves against the onset of what promises to be a dull and dreary piece played by unsmiling people in black suits. My imaginary audience may be pleased to find that this Petit Concert is nothing of the sort. It is actually a rather relaxed piece, combining something of the 18th century Rococo (which was never very serious to begin with) and Steely Dan-influenced Hindemith. But just as a chef will hide the most unlikely ingredients in his sauces and confections, I hope I have concealed these disparate influences in a piece which speaks with its own voice. Here, then, is a short concerto with little if any overt virtuosity; it is offered simple for the enjoyment of players and audience alike. In this it perhaps comes round full circle to composers like François Couperin who preferred to please their listeners rather than stun them.Relaxed the piece may be. To be sure, ranges and techniques are far from extreme and there are plenty of triadic sonorities and almost normal functional harmony here. But there are also moments of jazz-inflected chromaticism and frequent meter changes to contend with. It will take players who can hold their own in a mildly dissonant sound world to pull this off. Careful attention to dynamics, tight ensemble and flawless intonation are a must, but diligent players will be rewarded with an immediate audience-pleaser.A separate harpsichord part is included for players who prefer not to read from the score. Equal temperament and a=440 are assumed for the harpsichord. A two manual instrument is preferred but not absolutely necessary.

Voice, recorder and percussion - Digital Download Minor: Dominant and Subdominant Triads. Arranged by Margaret Murray. This edition: score for voice and/or instruments. Orff- Schulwerk. Downloadable. Op. 5. Schott Music - Digital #Q49516. Published by Schott Music - Digital
English.<br> <br> Carl Orff devoted much of his life to the development of a philosophy of Music for Children, based on his belief that music is the natural outcome of speech, rhythm and movement. His ideas and pioneering work have had a major influence on music and dance education throughout the world and today that work continues under the guidance of leading teachers and educators in many countries. The five basic German volumes of Music for Children by Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman were published between 1950 and 1954. Editions have since been published in Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Ghana, Great Britain (including a special Welsh edition), Greece, Italy, Japan, Korea, Latin-America, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan and the USA. In 1952 the first edition in translation appeared an English language adaptation by Doreen Hall and Arnold Walter for their Canadian and American students. A few years later, Margaret Murray independently developed a version (1957-1966), essentially to fulfil the needs of United Kingdom teachers. Inevitably the considerable growth of Orff-Schulwerk in the United States led to the publication of the American Edition (1977) to satisfy the requirements of a different educational system and national heritage. Orff-Schulwerk: Music for Children has proved itself to be a stimulating source of material for music teaching. Carl Orff's fundamental educational ideas have revitalized music education in nursery schools, at all levels of primary and secondary education and in special music schools, based on the concepts that: - music, dance and language are inter-related and animated through rhythm. - when children discover, invent, improvise and compose, their experience of music is intensified. These creative activities are complementary to those of interpreting and listening to music. - all who take part are encouraged to contribute, not only vocally but also instrumentally. - the Orff approach to music education is many sided. it is concerned with practical music-making, it provides fundamental experiences and it lays the foundation for a comprehensive musical training. - movement games and activities for body awareness in space, time and flow, lead to movement improvisation and dance forms. - music and dance have been notated in many different ways in history. Various ways of writing down sounds and music, as well as playing from and interpreting different kinds of sources are being explored. Today, countless teachers and institutions are using these ideas. More and more teachers look for ways of involving their students in active music making. In particular, they seek to challenge their pupils' creativity by the use of music, dance and speech - as media of human expression - as a foundation of all education. A prerequisite for work in Orff-Schulwerk is the artistic and pedagogical training of teachers. The Orff Institute was founded in 1961 as a Department of the 'Mozarteum', in Salzburg, Austria. Training offered includes a four-year diploma course, a two-year post-graduate course, and a one-year-course in English. At the opening of the Orff Institute in Salzburg in 1963, Carl Orff ended his speech with a quotation from Schiller: 'I have done my part, now do yours.' That challenge has been taken up by teachers worldwide. Murray Edition English adaption, with additional material, by Margaret Murray. Besed on, and containing all the rhythmic and instrumental material from the main five volumes of the original German edition. Contents of this fifth volume: Songs and pieces making further use of the modes introduced in Vol. 4, with the addition of the more usual forms of the minor scale with the sharpened seventh. The settings of short dramatic scenes concludes the book.

Large Ensemble Drum Set,Euphonium,Horn,Marimba,Multi-Percussion,Piano Accompaniment,Trumpet,Tuba,Vibraphone,Xylophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1030356 Composed by David Wang. Classical,Contemporary. Score and parts. 92 pages. David Wang NecroDavid #6247063. Published by David Wang NecroDavid (A0.1030356). Description The original composition SONATINA explores the transformation of one main idea into different genres through the usage of repetition and variation in order to create contrast. The beginning features a piano intro with front ensemble in accompaniment, followed by the first form of the main theme on solo trumpet which presents a classical idea. Furthermore, the secondary melody comes in a minor tonality, which then mixes with the modified main theme thus creates dissonance. There is then a transition section that features the drumline and the front ensemble in a consistent ostinato pattern to create a smooth key change, which leads into the bright triplet section that has a strong hint of swung feeling. It then transitions into a calm and relaxing ballad section, where it moves beyond the simple triad classical chord progression into sophisticated usage of 7th, 9th and 11th chords to create tension-release cycles. After a short euphonium solo, the climax comes with main theme hidden out-of-phase in the counter-melody line. The closer section comes after the ballad, which explores the feeling of a waltz while having call and answer structures of euphonium and flugelhorn solos. The solos still consists of the modified main theme melody. Finally, it builds up into a climax and finishes with a long hold.Note to Drum Major/ConductorSONATINA for Drum & Bugle Corps is designed to be played in a non-competitive drum and bugle corp. It is suitable for being played in both indoor and outdoor ensembles. Each solo does not have to be played by the same soloist, and every soloist will be equipped with wireless microphones to amplify the sound. The front ensemble will be equipped with microphones but set to be at a lower level than soloists. The drumline will be equipped with sound projector scoops under the drums.

5 flutes in C - advanced to difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q49445 Composed by Hans-Guenther Allers. This edition: score and parts. Flute. Downloadable, Score and parts. Op. 80. Duration 4:30. Musikverlag Zimmermann - Digital #Q49445. Published by Musikverlag Zimmermann - Digital (S9.Q49445). German • English • French. The sonata piccola op. 80 is an original composition for 5 flutes that is cheerful throughout. The Toccatina begins right away with a clear-cut rhythmical motif and virtuoso passages, while the Notturno (no. 2) is rather reserved and expressive in character. In the third piece, Serenata, the dissonant tones that are adjunct to the triads create a barrel-organ-like sound. The Rezitativo (no. 4), with its solo-tutti dialogue, forms a transition to the cheerful and capricious Rondino (no. 5), which is a rhythmical final movement characterized throughout by constant changes of meters.

- the Orff approach to music education is many sided; it is concerned with practical music-making, it provides fundamental experiences and it lays the foundation for a comprehensive musical training. Contents of this second volume: Songs and pieces using the full major scale. Accompaniments are founded on drone bass with the later addition of simple chords.

Alto saxophone and piano - Medium - Digital Download SKU: MQ.8790-E Composed by Luke Mayernik. All Saints/All Souls, Holy Week, Lent, Triduum/Three Days. 15 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8790-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8790-E). Written as a melodic vehicle for the alto saxophone, Amendment offers flowing lines ornamented with grace notes reminiscent of Impressionist days gone by. The piece begins with a songlike adagio theme that mixes both B major and B minor modalities. The center section of the work begins with rapid triplets in the piano before the saxophone enters with a rhythmically charged variation upon the initial theme. Following a climax on F-sharp major, the motion settles into a restatement of the lovely B major/minor theme before ending on a sweet-sounding B major triad.Mayernik’s work is brief but moving, and offers the soloist a wonderful opportunity for melodic exploration. Both appealing to the audience and enjoyable for the saxophonist, Amendment is a picturesque new piece in the repertoire. Duration: 3:00.

Small Ensemble Alto Flute,Bass Flute,Low Voice,Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.924872 Composed by Stanley M. Hoffman. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary. Score and parts. 20 pages. Stanleymhoffman.com #4326273. Published by stanleymhoffman.com (A0.924872). Twilight, Goodbye, Peace is dedicated to low flutes virtuoso Peter Sheridan. It was begun in 2013 and completed in 2016; the total duration is 6:41. The texts by Solomon Ibn Gabriol, Samuel L. Clemens (aka Mark Twain), and one attributed to Fra Giovanni Giocondo but probably written by Earnest Temple Hargrove, take the listener on a journey from grief/death to hope/heaven. Themusical language is unapologetically chromatic. Other than perhaps the most academic of composers these days, chromaticism has largely fallen into disuse. Although the vast majority of my music written since around 1998 is either tonal or more often modal, I occasionally return to a chromatically saturated musical language to express certain emotions through sounds that are alien to thosemusical languages. I did so in the present title with the intent of painting the three texts more poignantly. While most passages feature familiar-sounding triads and octaves, the melodies, harmonies and cadences sound unfamiliar. It is to be hoped that the listener will find the music both moving and engaging, challenging one to listen to these three songs in new ways.-Stanley M. Hoffman, 9/11/2016, fifteen years after 9/11.

Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.940695 By Dave Koz & Kelly Sweet. By Irving Berlin. Arranged by Betsy Hannah. Jazz. Score and parts. 4 pages. Betsy B Hannah #4888929. Published by Betsy B Hannah (A0.940695). An easy duet but with rich sounds of 7th chords by using simple triads in the accompaniment with just root and 5th in the LH. Recommended that melody player start swinging it a bit, and experiment with improvisation on the tune. The LH bass can be experimented with: adding rhythmic patterns and walking bass line. Examples in the YouTube video.Amazingly rich given the simplicity of the arrangement.
