This composition was written for a student who enjoyed the quirky tonality and the challenge of playing the left hand was in C Position but the right hand in F Postion. The song is in the key of C Major and includes both sharp and flat accidentals. There are two brief fingering changes in the right hand but the most challenging technique is simultaneous legato (RH) and staccato (LH) playing. Also included are oddly placed accents and short appoggiaturas. The song is 29 measures in length. .

The idea behind these series of compositions was to create easy, short and accessible piano pieces that sounded nice and that would encourage my students to learn various pieces, rather than learning a single long piece.My aim as a composer with this series is to evoke feelings usually associated with the night, such as calmness, tranquility, serenity, among others. The harmony utilized in these pieces is rooted in tonality. However, the fairly constant use of chords with added 6ths, 7ths, 9ths, as well as a few modal exchanges, add color to the harmonic sense of the music, perhaps even contributing to create a relaxing mood.Also, these pieces have a pedagogical edge. They are meant to be utilized to showcase chord triads, broken chords, music sequences, the use of the pedal, among many others. If you are a teacher, feel free to use these pieces as examples for your lessons.The last but most important thing I would like to add is to just enjoy playing these pieces. Do not hesitate in diving into a calm mood while playing these series of compositions, since they were created with that objective in mind. My goal is to create something that sounds beautiful as a standalone piece of music, but most importantly, that it actually makes pianistic sense. Sometimes I even hide exercises in the arrangements that I want a student to work on. All of my arrangements are usually made for a specific student, so the results will always vary.This arrangement was made for a late beginner, Primary III, student working on Level 1-2 of the Alfred's Masterwork Classics series. He is a huge Godzilla fan and was thrilled to be playing this. It was not an easy arrangement for him! But he was resilient and persevered even after I offered to make it easier. It has been a year since he performed it, and he can still play it from memory. The rhythmic melody is difficult to keep up with. Good focus on the pedal and accented notes will help with this. The sudden jump to a higher octave might take some time. Also, the split voices at the end should be encouraged, but can always be ignored.Pedal and fingering suggestions are included.

The piece is a beginner's level variation on my theme, Changing Seasons, which I composed originally in October of 2008. Eventually this piece will be published for a large ensemble but for now, I am sticking with humble beginings. This version of the song is meant to serve as an etude for piano. The song is a fun study of arpeggiation, intriguing chordal movement including secondary dominants, repeats with 1st and 2nd endings, classic piano technique, dexterity, and a small homage to Pachelbel's Canon (although not in D, in this case.) This etude is written in the key of C Major for ease of learning's sake. The original composition was written in the key of D Major. I used PreSonus' Notion 6 for this project. However, I ran into a plethora of difficulties when I transferred the file over to PDF format. Some text was lost as well as the majority of all my performance and technique notes in the score. I will try to correct this ASAP and get the score reloaded. I really just need to get something posted on here because I AM a composer and I have never actually shared a composition in musical score form for others to purchase, play or peruse. This is my first ever. I hope whoever selects this piece enjoys it and might offer some constructive criticism or insight. Have fun! (Note, the piece is intended to be played at approximately 120 bpm but I encourage playing it slowly several times at first to figure out a way through the printing errors for now).

As years come and go, one increasingly recalls memories of earlier times. One of the most vivid and cherished memories I have while growing up is of Sunday mornings, going to church, sitting in the same pew each week with my grandmother, hearing and singing the beautiful hymns of our faith, and then returning home to the aroma of beef slowly roasting in the oven. My father directed the church choir, my mother and older brothers sang in the choir, so the wonderful music of our faith was instilled in me from an early age. This medley, and others in the series, are arrangements of many of my favorite hymns from those early years, many of which have been lost in more recent editions. For this series, I have mostly elected to use the older texts as that is the way they were first written and the way I first learned them. (*See below for more comment on the texts in this set.) There is a reverence and beauty in the language enriching the vocal tone which, I believe, is lost in contemporary, conversational, or politically correct syntax. I shudder to think of the day when a penitential phrase such as Hear thou my prayer, O Lord is rendered as Hey, God-dude, listen up - I'm talkin' atcha! I have also opted not to include the many wonderful hymns and carols which are associated with the major festivals of Christmas and Easter as those are commonly found in other collections. A caveat: I have no delusions, and I offer no pretenses, that these settings are great art. They are simply expressions of faith which I hope may bring a small measure of joy to other church musicians. The general concept of each medley is to present the hymn, often in its original chorale form, and then vary its harmony or texture. The hymns in this set are Children of the Heavenly Father, Day by Day, Thy Holy Wings, and Beautiful Savior. This collection of arrangements is also available for SATB voices and piano or piano solo.*A note on the texts in this set: Having grown up in a Swedish Lutheran church, the grandson of Swedish/Norwegian immigrants, and currently being choir director of another Swedish Lutheran church, these hymns have a special place for me. This medley of hymns was originally arranged for my church choir with the first verse of each in Swedish. Being under copyright, permission was obtained to use the more familiar English translations of the first three songs for local use. For this edition, I have opted to create my own texts for the first and third hymns while the second hymn is a translation in public domain. I have also provided a verse in English in lieu of the Swedish for those Nordically challenged. The fourth hymn is not a Swedish melody but for obvious reasons is a mainstay of the Lutheran hymnal. Like the other hymns, the first verse is in Swedish while the other traditional verses are also public domain.

The lyrics speak of a fountain filled with Jesus' blood that washes sinners clean. This is an elementary level 3 piano solo that begins very simply with a single melody line, then with each verse the LH changes it's pattern and the RH adds a little harmony. Pedaling is marked and helpful fingering is added. It is in the key of C and uses primary chords in the LH. A pretty little interlude breaks up the verses and is used again at the end. It is a simple pattern in the RH that descends by 2nds. Nice piece for recitals and church special music. I had a lot of problems with the brand new ac unit after they came to install it. One of the problems is that every year, when the temperature outside goes down to 30 degrees, the brand new installed heating system would not go above 65 degrees. Normally, it stays at 61 degrees. I was and still am very frustrated about this. This new heating and ac system costs a lot of money. (A person use the same amount of money to buy a nice small car.) Because the temperature has not gone above 65 degrees inside, I have had to wear two sweat shirts, one coat, one feather jacket, two pairs of cotton pants, two pairs of socks, and two warm hats almost every single day for about one month. I have been so cold every winter. A lot of times during the coldest days in the winter, I have to stay in my 1998 Toyota Sienna van. Because it is warmer in my van than in my house. One day, while I was driving, I thought about writing a song about how cold I have been.In this song, I used many seconds including Major 2nd and Minor 2nd. The Major and Minor seconds sound very sharp, like the cold that is cutting through your skin. It is very uncomfortable, and that is the idea behind this song. The song was written by Paul Simon over several months in 1963 and 1964. A studio audition led to the duo signing a record deal with Columbia Records, and the original 'acoustic' version of the song was recorded in March 1964 at Columbia Studios in New York City and included on their debut album, Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M.. Released on October 19, 1964,[2] the album was a commercial failure and led to the duo disbanding; Simon returned to England, and Art Garfunkel to his studies at Columbia University. There is a lot of jumping around, but a good student will handle it just fine and actually LOVE it. Get that initial right hand position with a 3rd between 2 and 3, and you'll be just fine. The triplet section can be tricky. Might be a great opportunity for practicing repeated notes with different fingers. Use the pedal for greatest effect, as notated. Pedal and fingering suggestions are included.

Juan MarÃa Solare: Hamacando a las mellizas (Swinging Twins or Swinging the twins) a children blues for piano This work was born -precisely- rocking (swinging) my twins Laura and Alma, as an improvised melody that accompanied their activity (or rather mine). From there to write it down there was only one step. As a second theme, it seemed appropriate to invert the melody, since twinhood implies a certain specular symmetry. Hamacando a las mellizas has the traditional structure of the twelve-bar blues, and a merry, innocent and carefree character. Hamacando a las mellizas was composed in Bremen (Germany) between June 21 and 23, 2020.
