If you like the music, these pieces also sound great with a larger full instrumentation.PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:Lo, How A Rose E’er Blooming (originally known as Es ist din Ros entsprungen) is a German Christmas Carol and Marian hymn in mixed meter. First sung in the 15th Century and first published int he 16th Century, this hymn is still popular in the 21st Century. In multiple different contexts, the hymn compares the beauty of Christmas to that of a lovely rose. The most common harmonization to this melody was composted by Michael Praetorius in 1609, and the original part-writing contains elements of the Renaissance madrigal. Although this band arrangement is rescored with different part-writing, it pays some homage to the musical traditions employed in the original carol. This theme and variations is a mixture of four different scoring methods: modern Christmas Carol; gently-applied lyrical contemporary; Renaissance imitation; and a bombastic, Romantic orchestral finish. This piece features multiple subtle musical sensibilities and a gentle introduction into the world of mixed meter. I sincerely hope you enjoy this arrangement!

This song was features in live action version of The Grinch staring Jim Carey. This would be a great closer to your holiday concert. This is meant for for advanced Middle School/Junior High bands. The 1st trumpet part goes up to a high G with optional high C at the end. The interlude in the middle has been simplified from sixteenth notes to eighth notes but without any sacrifice to the overal intensity. The Grinch vocals could be done by the entire band or a single student (or a guest teacher/administrator)!

A staccato theme then segues into the original theme presented by the solo flute. A slow, expressive section featuring multiple soloists follows. The piece is brought to an exhilarating conclusion with presto percussion and flourishing woodwinds over huge chordal hits. Medium- to advanced-intermediate in difficulty while still exciting and challenging, this piece should be playable by many high school concert bands or community bands.

He is a member of the ACME roster of Mu Phi Epsilon, recognized for distinguished achievement as a composer. Frequently combining painting with composition, Hoover creates works that can be both seen and heard by the audience. Hoover was born on September 11, 1959, in Anderson, Indiana. He holds a Ph.D. in Fine Arts (Composition and Interdisciplinary Fine Arts) from Texas Tech University, as well as an M.M. and Bch.Sc. from Ball State University. His career in higher education has included both music faculty and arts administrative appointments.
