Full Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1493082 By Eric Coates. By Eric Coates. Arranged by Kevin Riley. 20th Century,Patriotic. 91 pages. Kevin Riley #1069754. Published by Kevin Riley (A0.1493082). Music While You Work was a daytime radio programme of continuous live popular music broadcast in the United Kingdom twice daily on workdays from 23 June 1940 ]until 29 September 1967 by the BBC. Initially, the morning edition was generally broadcast on the BBC Home Service at 10:30am, with the afternoon edition at 3pm on the Forces/General Forces Programme - and after the war on the BBC Light Programme. Between August 1942 and July 1945, a third edition was broadcast at 10:30pm for night-shift workers. The programme began in World War II with the idea that playing non-stop popular/light music at an even tempo would help factory workers become more productive.[4][5] It originally consisted of live music (light orchestras, dance bands, brass and military bands and small instrumental ensembles). In order to make studios more available during the day, it was decided in 1963 that the shows would be pre-recorded (often in the evening or on Sundays).

Full Orchestra - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1489533 Composed by Huang Ruo. Arranged by Jack Chao Heng Zhang. Classical,Historic,Multicultural,Standards,Traditional,World. 38 pages. Jack Chao Heng Zhang #1066397. Published by Jack Chao Heng Zhang (A0.1489533). Fengyang Flower Drum is a folk song from Anhui Province, China. It was very popular in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. This song is a folk ditty. One of the lyrics describes the plight of residents in Fengyang County, Anhui Province in the early Ming Dynasty, and insinuates that Zhu Yuanzhang failed to take care of the people in his hometown, making them unable to settle down and live in their hometown. The string part of this adapted version is derived from the arrangement by composer Bob Phillips, and the wind and percussion parts are configured according to the characteristics of traditional Chinese music, making it a complete symphonic work. Also, I was trying to add saxophone section into my orchestration to enhance and support the middle timbre of the orchestra, because the saxophone has a deeper sound to across the strings and woodwinds smoothly. This adapted version is suitable for students with beginning level in orchestra performance, allowing students to feel the charm of symphonic music with simple techniques, and experience traditional Chinese culture and history.

Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.758969 Composed by Timothy J. Olt. 20th Century. Score and parts. 64 pages. Olt Music #2893363. Published by Olt Music (A0.758969). Joyful Rebirth is a programmatic work for orchestra detailing the struggles of a close friend. This person was abused at home both emotionally and physically. In 2014 they ran away from home. Since this time they have turned their life around, are working on a bachelors’ degree, and starting to do amazing things with their life. The work starts with a brief description of the ridicule and abuse, then moves to the turmoil of deciding to run away. The person then leaves home, is taken in and nurtured, and starts their new life. They explore various things they had been denied, truly finding their own feet for the first time. The piece ends with the hope and promise of a bright future.

Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.869295 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Baroque,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 149 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #431379. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869295). Instrumentation: 3222-4231-timp-2perc-hp-chorus-strings Program note:It has been a wonderful two years of thinking, learning and working on my Continental Harmony Project with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra. It is a rare occasion that a composer in the 21st century would receive a commission to write a musical work of such scale: a 40-minute piece for symphony orchestra, 200-plus chorus and a ballet company. At the Bangor Public Library I found some wonderful evocative 19th century texts for the chorus about the city of Bangor and its environs: the Penobscot River, Mt. Ktaadn, the logging industry, the native American culture, etc. At times I felt overwhelmed, but most of the times I was exuberant and quite inspired by the music that came forth in the process. The premiere is less than a month away, and I am looking forward to it. Susan Jonason, Executive Director of the Bangor Symphony, has made the occasion a very public one: a free concert on a Saturday evening! I hope the audience will go home humming the tunes from the work as they walk into the crisp, cool Bangor night.Formally the work is in five movements. The first, third and fifth movements are choral, and the two in between are orchestral. In the premiere, the Robinson Ballet will dance in the orchestral movements. The first movement is about the Penobscot River from winter to spring. The melting of the ice is a harbinger of things to come: warmer weather, for instance; but it has also contributed to a lot of flooding in the city of Bangor and its surroundings. The second movement is a waltz, a grand 19th century ballroom waltz for the ladies of the rich lumber barons. They come to the ball showing off their latest hats and gowns from London, Paris and Milan. The third movement is about the woods and the people who work in them. Thoreau’s text about Mt. Ktaadn is full of awesome thoughts about how nature is beautiful, yet unkind to man. It is followed by a J.G. Whittier lyric entitled The Logger’s Boast. The original song had twenty stanzas to it. I whittled it down to five. I don’t know what the original song sounded like, so I made up my own version of a lumberjack’s drinking song. The fourth movement is a wild, drunken polka. After a long week of working in the woods the lumbermen come back to the city and spend all their earnings on booze, women and gambling. And they dance the night away …The last movement begins with a funeral march for Joe Attien, a native American who was Thoreau’s guide when he came up here in the 1900’s. The work ends with a rousing march, a centennial hymn to the city of Bangor. God bless our city Bangor, now! On this its birthday morn …NB: The two ballet movements, II. La Valse and IV. Drunken Polka, are optional.

Published by stanleymhoffman.com (A0.1388556). Program Notes: The fact that the text for this work even exists is a miracle. It was written by Abraham (Abramek) Koplowicz, a Jewish boy who was exterminated by the Nazis during the Holocaust. Abramek was born in 1930 in Lodz, Poland, and died 1944 in that country's infamous concentration camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau. He wrote this poem during the time that his family was trapped in the Lodz ghetto. This poem was not found until 1983 when Eliezer (Lolek) Grynfeld, the poet's half-brother, discovered it among their late father's belongings. Choristers who sing this work will be transported on a magical flight around the world through time and space along with their audiences. â??A Dream (Marzenie)When I am twenty years of age,I will burst forth from this cageAnd begin to see our splendid EarthFor the first time since my birth! In my motorized bird Iâ??ll soar so highAbove the world, up in the sky,Over rivers and the seas, With such stupefying ease,With my brother wind and sister cloud, Iâ??llMarvel at the Euphrates and the Nile; The goddess Isis ruled the land that linksThe Pyramids and the massive Sphynx.I will glide above Niagara Falls,And sunbathe where the Sahara calls; If I want to escape the scorching heat,I will fly up north to an Arctic retreat.I will top the cloudy peaks of Tibetan fameAnd survey the fabled land whence the Magi came. From the Island of KangaroosIâ??ll take my time and cruiseTo the ruins of Pompeii      At the edge of Naples Bay,Iâ??ll continue to the Holy Land, then seekThe home of Homer, the celebrated Greek.More and more astonished will I growAt the beauty of the Earth below. In all my travelling Iâ??ll be twinnedWith my siblings, cloud and wind.â??Abraham (â??Abramekâ?) Full Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1505511 Composed by Frederick Delius. Arranged by Kevin Riley. 20th Century,Christmas,Classical. 69 pages. Kevin Riley #1080934. Published by Kevin Riley (A0.1505511). The musical compositions of Frederick Delius (1862–1934) cover numerous genres, in a style that developed from the early influences of composers such as Edvard Grieg and Richard Wagner into a voice that was uniquely Delius's. He began serious composition at a relatively advanced age (his earliest songs date to his early twenties), and his music was largely unknown and unperformed until the early 20th century. It was a further ten years before his work was generally accepted in concert halls, and then more often in Europe than in his home country, England. Ill-health caused him to give up composition in the early 1920s and he was silent for several years, before the services of a devoted amanuensis, Eric Fenby, enabled Delius to resume composing in 1928. The Delius-Fenby combination led to several notable late works.

Julian Wagstaff #3421021. Published by Julian Wagstaff (A0.971716). The Symphonic Overture (for orchestra) has its roots in Julian Wagstaff's stage musical John Paul Jones, which premiered in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2001 and was revived professionally with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra in 2010. Essentially a tragedy of ambition, the musical tells the story of the son of a Scottish gardener who became a hero of the American Revolution as the father of the American navy. The work is in three clearly discernible sections: The first interlaces the Scots jig in 6/8 (which opens the musical) with the anthemic 'Freedom Arise' theme in 4/4 (which closes it), by means of metric modulation. The second, slower section is essentially a canon and variation on the 'Home Again' ballad from Act I of the show, while the third and final section is a radical development of the 'Battle of Flamborough Head' sequence from Act I of the musical. Full Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1025679 By Various Artists. By John Lewis Shumann. Arranged by Brett A Foster (BF Music). Contemporary. Score and parts. 123 pages. Brett A Foster #6474837. Published by Brett A Foster (A0.1025679). I Was Only Nineteen, I Was Only 19 or A Walk in the Light Green is the most widely recognised song by Australian folk group Redgum. The song was released in March 1983 as a single, which hit number one for two weeks. This version has been created for Full Orchestra (with optional TTB choral parts). The piece should be easily playable by Intermediate level Full Orchestra. There are optional parts for English Horn, Clarinet 3, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone & Contra Bassoon. The piano part is important for the core rhythms section, as is the guitar. The Violin 1 parts does go into third position towards the end, but all other string parts stay in first position. The song itself is a first-person account of a typical Australian soldier's experience in the Vietnam War, from training at a military academy in Australia to first hand exposure to military operations and combat, and ultimately his return home disillusioned and suffering from both PTSD and, it is implied, the harmful effects of Agent Orange. This piece would work well at any ANZAC Day or Memorial Day event for the Armed services.

Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1004946 Composed by Rob Birdwell. Contemporary,Film/TV,Pop,World. Score and parts. 57 pages. Birdwell Music LLC #4634031. Published by Birdwell Music LLC (A0.1004946). Full symphonic underscore for a poem dedicated to all Dogs in the world. It's a sentimental offering, but one intended to raise awareness of the need to support organizations that shelter and care for animals in order to find them homes where they can live long, happy and healthy lives. The musical underscore starts off dramatic but soon becomes more atmospheric to underscore the poem. The poem is timed somewhat to the music, however, each reader will offer their own interpretation and cadence to fit within the overall fabric of the music. The score is particularly suited for professional orchestras especially since it calls for two harpists and a full compliment of strings, winds, and brass, and a variety of interesting percussion. Everything about the score is intended to underscore the poem reader, so dynamics are generally soft and the score will work and sound great even with orchestras lacking some of the instrumentation.Portions of all proceeds from sales of this score will be donated to charities supporting the care of Dogs, Cats, and other animals and it is the composer's/poet's wish that live performances will make the most of the symphonic hall setting to encourage others to donate generously to organizations that promote animal well-being.

Full Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1102324 By John Carpenter. By John Carpenter. Arranged by Kevin Riley. 20th Century,Film/TV,Halloween. Score and Parts. 44 pages. Kevin Riley #705731. Published by Kevin Riley (A0.1102324). Halloween is a 1978 American independent slasher film directed and scored by John Carpenter, co-written with producer Debra Hill, and starring Jamie Lee Curtis (in her film debut) and Donald Pleasence, with P. J. Soles and Nancy Kyes appearing in supporting roles. The plot centers around a mental patient, Michael Myers, who was committed to a sanitarium for murdering his babysitting teenage sister on Halloween night when he was six years old. Fifteen years later, he escapes and returns to his hometown, where he stalks a female babysitter and her friends, while under pursuit by his psychiatrist. Filming took place in Southern California in May 1978; the work premiered in October, whereupon it grossed $70 million, becoming one of the most profitable independent films of all time. Primarily praised for Carpenter's direction and score, many critics credit the film as the first in a long line of slasher films inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960), and Bob Clark's Black Christmas (1974). It is considered one of the greatest and most influential horror films ever made. In 2006, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant. Halloween spawned a film franchise comprising thirteen films which helped construct an extensive backstory for its antagonist Michael Myers, sometimes narratively diverging entirely from previous installments. A direct sequel of the film was released in 1981. A remake was released in 2007, which was followed by a sequel in 2009. An eleventh installment, which serves as a direct sequel to the original film that retcons all previous sequels, was released in 2018; this was followed by two direct sequels: Halloween Kills (2021) and the upcoming Halloween Ends (2022). Additionally, a novelization, a video game and comic book series have been based on the film.

This CD contains Mark O'Connor's latest orchestral works: Americana Symphony Variations on Appalachia Waltz(2006) and Concerto No. 6 Old Brass (2003). Sony Classical//BMG label director Gilbert Hetherwick explains; Dvorak and Copland painted symphonic landscapes using melodies inspired by the Americana tradition, and Mark O'Connor actually comes from that tradition itself. He's lived it every day of his life. And you hear it in every note of his Americana Symphony. For the majority of his solo career, O'Connor has dedicated himself to composing for orchestra: he has written six full-length concertos, several orchestral suites and string orchestra compositions, and most recently his first Symphony.David Wallace, Juilliard School faculty member and Senior Teaching Artist with the New York Philharmonic, comments on the overall characteristics of O'Connor's music: The Americana Symphony combines historical narrative with classical and folk variation principles. The Symphony contains instrumental virtuosity, rhythmic drive, poignant lyricism, and probing counterpoint. With the Americana Symphony, Mark O'Connor provides his answer to a question that has intrigued U. S. composers since the debut of Dvorak's New World Symphony in 1892: How do you write the great American Symphony?William Intrilligator, artistic director of the Dubuque Symphony, conducted one of the first performances of the Americana Symphony: Very few pieces of new music have the same emotional and visceral effect as this Symphony, he writes. It has such power and beauty, and these traits are expressed in original ways that are pure O'Connor and truly American.Marin Alsop, artistic director of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and this recording's conductor of the Americana Symphony, calls the Symphony simply A hit!
