Assignments are included according to the quantity of ringers, and the piece is Level 2 when played with seven or eight ringers. This piece may also be performed by four- or six- in-hand ensembles without tables.Combining flowing lines with block chords, this arrangement of the familiar hymn tune is reminiscent of a music box. The melody is played both in the bass and the treble lines, and the easy rhythms never advance beyond the eighth note value. Every ringer is kept busy with lots of ringing, LV, some shakes, and minimal accidentals. Walz (A0.767673). This piece could utilize up to 12 members, but usually many members play two bells, so it could be a piece for six ringers. We Gather Together is one of my favorite hymns, and I'm sure Maestro would agree that it has a lovely melody. Key of D, two pages, no key changes. Performance time is 1: 25 if you take the repeat, shorter without it. PRACTICE HINT:Â The dotted quarter note in the melody may be unfamiliar to some beginning handbell ringers. Some clapping exercises with the melody might be helpful. In addition, the second layer (those notes with stems going down) does not play the dotted rhythm. It would be wise to have those ringers practice their smooth, consistent lines before pairing them with the more syncopated melody.

I Sing the Mighty Power of God is a 51 measure arrangement for 4-5 octave handbell choir that has three contrasting verses based on the original Christian hymn. The first verse is fairly standard, except that some chord structures are used throughout the arrangement that are not the standard chords used in the original hymn. After the first verse (at the normal tempo) the tempo slows considerably, for a majestic effect, and the very lowest 4 octave bells are used for the melody line. At the same time, the chord structure here is provided by treble clef bells, from the bottom of the treble clef, through the highest note of the 5 octave range. This approach alternates with passages that are up to 5-octave unison passages. The early parts of the third verse are heavy on descant lines---sometimes descant chords instead of single-note descants, with a couple of bass runs in this verse, as well. There is a tag at the end---the last musical phrase is repeated with fuller chords at triple forte. 'When I Survey the Wondrous Cross' is an excellent choice for any time in the Christian Liturgical year, but is especially appropriate for Lent and Holy Week. This arrangement uses a basic 2 octave set of handbells, tone chimes, hand chimes or belle plates. Beginning simply and building to a triumphant finish, it is three and a half minutes of inspiring music! This piece uses 22 bells, and would work for a small intermediate ensemble (8 or 9 member group who can switch out bells during key changes) or would be an excellent piece for a larger beginning group, where the stately tempo can help build strong ringing skills. It has been published using large print, to facilitate reading in darkened spaces.This is a reproducible product. Created to insure quick success for new ringers, WORSHIP BELLS hymn trio does not include hymn melody or intricate rhythm patterns. Ringers play 'simple to count' chords for the most part. I use the color-coding method of highlighting the ringer's notes in the handbell chart and then highlighting with the same color the notes in the hymn. Each measure is numbered and if your ringer can count and follow the colors, he/she can ring! For those new to reading music, music instruction begins with identifying 1/4, 1/2, whole notes, dotted notes, repeat signs, and practicing specific rhythm patterns for each hymn.
