Cello Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1226741 By The Beatles. By George Harrison. Arranged by Leo Silva. Multicultural,Pop,Rock,World. Individual part. 2 pages. MP Sheet Music #822741. Published by MP Sheet Music (A0.1226741). “Here Comes the Sun†is a Beatles song written by George Harrison, which was released on the 1969 Abbey Road album. Recording began on July 7, 1969 and was completed on August 19, 1969. Its length is 3' 06. George Harrison sings, plays guitar, moog synthesizer, and claps his hands. Paul McCartney sings the chorus, plays the bass, and claps his hands. Ringo Starr plays drums and claps his hands. Because he is recovering from a car accident, John Lennon did not participate in this song. There was also the participation of orchestral instruments: four violas, four cellos, one bass, two picolos, two flutes, two alto flutes and two clarinets. According to George, it was composed one sunny morning in Eric Clapton's mansion. Like in If I Needed Someone, another composition by him, a guitar solo sounds throughout the song. It is one of the most famous and re-recorded Beatles songs.

Gabrieli: Canzon Septimi Toni Ch 172 for Cello Choir

Cello - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549203 Composed by Gabrieli. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Renaissance,Standards. 58 pages. Jmsgu3 #3461839. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549203). Instrumentation: 8 Cellos arranged in two choirs. Full Score: 28 pg. Study Score: 14 pg. Parts: 2 pg. ea. Innovations First of all, Gabrieli preferred sacred vocal and certainly instrumental music. Hence, he concentrated on music that consequently took advantage of resonance and likewise reverberation for maximum effect. Seems like Gabrieli may have invented dynamics – or was rather the first to indicate them such as in his Sonata Pian’ e Forte. Consequently, he was also a pioneer in spatial techniques. He therefore developed and used very specific notation to indicate instrumentation. Gabrieli experimented with assembling massive instrumental forces into isolated groups separated by space. In this way, he consequently contributed heavily to the Baroque Concertato style. Polychoral Works Gabrieli probably used the layout of the San Marco church for his experiments. This is because he worked there as a musician and composer. Furthermore, the church had two choir lofts facing each other. He certainly used these to create striking spatial effects between instrumental forces. Certainly, many of his works are composed such that a choir or instrumental group could first be heard on one side, then consequently followed by a response from the group on the other side. Sometimes there was probably a third group positioned near the main altar as well. Spatial Music Above all, Gabrieli studied carefully detailed groups of instruments and singers. Furthermore, it seems like he created precise directions for instrumentation in rather than two groups. The instruments, because they could be appropriately situated, could consequently be heard with perfect clearness at distant locations. As a result, arrangements that seem bizarre on paper, can in contrast sound perfectly in balance. First Works Finally, Gabrieli published his first motets along with his uncle Andrea's compositions in Concerti (1587). These compositions furthermore indicate considerable usage of dialogue and echo effects. Consequently, here we see low and high choirs with the variance between their ranges indicated by instrumental accompaniment. Seems like Gabrieli’s later motets Sacrae Symphoniae (1597) move away from close antiphony. In contrast, he moves towards not simply echoing the material but developing it through sequential choral entrances. Even more, he takes this procedure to the extreme in the Motet Omnes Gentes. Unlike earlier works, here the instruments are certainly an essential part of the presentation. Also, only parts marked: Capella are supposed to be sung. Homophony Hence, after 1605, Gabrieli moves to a much more homophonic style. He writes sections purely for instruments – which calls Sinfonia – and smaller sections for vocal soloists, accompanied by a basso continuo.

Cello Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596489 Composed by Juan MarÃa Solare. 20th Century,Contemporary,Standards,World. Individual part. 12 pages. Juan Maria Solare #3088085. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596489). Paregamutiún (Friendship): Four melodies of Armenian connotations for cello solo.I am not Armenian, but these melodies could be: it is an invented folklore. Nevertheless, I never wanted to compose an imitation of real Armenian music; for that I should live in Armenia a few years, learn the language, soak in a couple of millennia of culture and impregnate myself with the current problems. And yet it would be doubtful that the result would sound authentic. Neither I was interested in composing some sounding touristic postcards. These melodies reflect, yes, how a thankful being sees the Armenian from outside. And this is what grants them legitimacy.About the titles:The general title of the piece, Paregamutiún, is translatable as friendship. Sometimes it is transliterated Baregamutyun (as a certain station of the subway in Yerevan). The single titles of each piece refers to a lake, a mountain, a mythical patriarch and a tree of Armenia:1) Sevanavank: Monastery of the Black Lake, founded in 874. The name Sevan means literally Black Van, referring to a lake called Van. It is said that long ago the Armenians came from areas next to the lake Van towards the lake Sevan, they noticed that its waters were dark, almost black, but they reminded them of the lake Van, and therefore called it black Van: Sevan.2) Hayk is the patriarch of the foundational myth of the Armenian nation, and the original name of the country (Hayastán: land of the Armenians); some sources affirm that he was great great grandson or great-great-great grandson of Noah.3) Dziranà Dzar: apricot tree, the Armenian national fruit. Dzar is tree and dzirán is apricot, the obvious phonetic similitude seems to underline a strong semantic proximity between both concepts. The letter Dz is a complex phoneme similar to a smooth th.4) Masis is the Armenian name of mount Ararat, where -according to the Bible- ended up Noah's Arch after the Flood (Genesis 8:4).www.JuanMariaSolare.com

Published by Avery Lynn Jordan (A0.1175272). This score was adapted for violoncello with chord symbols, so that it can be used in its greatest essence, but with all the practicality to the interpreter. The piece is about O Mio Babbino Caro, from the opera Gianni Schichi, and is considered one of the most beautiful works by Giacomo Puccini. Made especially for the female soprano voice, where in the aria, Lauretta, who is immensely in love with Rinuccio, asks her father to do something for the Donati. For those people? he questions. Nothing! I do nothing at all! It is Lauretta's turn, with her famous aria Oh, my dear little father, to strive and soften the heart of her father, Gianni.

Cello Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1018958 Composed by Benjamin Harry …
(+)
Cello Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1018958 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 2 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6078715. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018958). Programme Notes: This composition was written to be considered for pairing alongside Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony #3, the Eroica, but can stand on its own virtues as an intense and slow meditation on heroism. The music is like a boiling pot on the stove that’s just began to overflow its bubbles. The first part of the title, kommos, is a Classical Greek term from Attic dramaturgy, literally meaning striking but specifically referring to beating oneself up during lamentation--ripping at the hair, gouging out the eyes--like Oedipus--slapping the forehead, and other acts amid moments of extreme emotional turmoil. For example, from Aeschylus's play Agamemnon, a character bewails: Apollo, Apollo! God of the Ways, my destroyer! For you have destroyed me-and utterly [...]What is this fresh woe [...]what monstrous, monstrous horror, beyond love's enduring, beyond all remedy? And help stands far away! We can easily imagine physical accompaniment to the script; rather than bottling up the pain, the hero lets it all explosively come out.  The second part of the title, When the world moved on, is an epigraph taken from American author Stephen King’s The Dark Tower epic. The primary setting of the novel, a world similar in many ways to our own, is experiencing a dark age where the glorious past is all but a distant memory and all good things are referred to wistfully as occurring, When the world moved on. Yet, the main protagonist, Roland, the last gunslinger, emphasizes that it is not just a figure of speech, but the literal distances between destinations have increased, the positions of the stars have changed, as well as the occurrence of other unnatural phenomena. The world has become a gulf of isolation from all corners. Taken together, this piece is a lamentation for when the world moved on. Truly completed on Yom Kippur during the Covid-19 Pandemic, being unable to fast or go to synagogue, this is my atonement.About the Composer: Benjamin Sajo (b. 1988) is a Canadian composer of contemporary classical music, as well as an educator. Since developing a fiercely independent creative voice upon the completion of his studies at Western (2010) and McGill Universities (2013), he continues to find inspiration from the intersection of mythology, art, and nature upon the contemporary human experience. In 2019, he released his premiere album of original music, The Great War Sextet: Canadian War Poetry with Trombone & Strings, with support from the Ontario Arts Council. He is a member of SOCAN and the League of Canadian Composers.

Jean Daniel Braun: 5 Unaccompanied Suites for Solo Cello
Cello
Composed by Jean Daniel Braun. Arranged by Adam Riggs. Baroque. Individual part. 84 …
(+)
Composed by Jean Daniel Braun. Arranged by Adam Riggs. Baroque. Individual part. 84 pages. AR Publications #4595589. Published by AR Publications
Jean Daniel Braun is not a composer whose works are widely performed, nor is there much information about his life and compositions. The date and location of his birth are not well documented, but it is thought that he was born in Alsace, the eastern-most region of France. His death was recorded as occurring on April 2, 1738, making his birth likely in the late 17thcentury. In his autobiography, Johann Joachim Quantz mentions meeting Jean Daniel Braun and his brother, Jean Frédéric Braun, during his six-month visit to Paris between August 1726 and March 1727, which is really the only affirmative mention about Braun and his activities during his lifetime. In addition to being active as a flutist and composer, Jean Daniel Braun was also a music publisher in Paris, the result of his receiving a ten-year royal privilege to print several of his own works. This royal privilege, which served as an early form of copyright, allowed him to publish his first collection; a set of Sonatas for Flute with Basso Continuo in 1728. He went on to publish ten more collections of his own compositions, the majority of which were for flute and continuo, with some notable exceptions, including a set of 6 sonatas for two bassoons or other bass instruments. Jean Daniel did not personally publish the last volume of his works, Sonata a flûte traversière et basse suivie de differentes pièces sans basse[1]it is thought that Jean Frédéric Braun discovered the manuscript, assumed them to be composed by his brother, and saw them to publication under his brother’s name.[2] <br> <br> These suites, while not originally written for cello, sound well-suited to the instrument and present some unique technical challenges that do not normally present themselves in the cello repertoire, including multiple rapid shifts in quick succession and rapid large interval leaps. In the 18th century, it was very common for works to be transcribed for and performed on other instruments. Braun's novel use of a treble clef in one key and a bass clef in another at the beginning line of each of the 5 suites (the 2nd Suite excepted, however, it does have a note for bass instruments to transpose to the appropriate key at the beginning), is proof that Braun did not have a single instrument in mind for these suite. It is therefore fitting that these suites should and can be performed on the cello.<br> <br> There are two versions of the suites in this edition. The first is as it appears in the edition at the Bibliotheque Nationale de France (Paris). The bowed version provides the editors suggested bowings that are more suited to performance on cello. <br> <br> <br> <br> [1]David A Wells, liner notes from Twenty Four Solos by Jean-Daniel Braun, Nadina Makie Jackson, 2011<br> [2]Jean Daniel Braun, Sonata a flûte trabersière et basse suivie de differentes pièces sans basse. Cello Solo - Digital Download SKU: A0.775951 Composed by Carson Cooman. Contemporary,Standards. Individual part. 3 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #2033561. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.775951). Actaeon (Clausula IV) (2011) for solo cello was written for Diana Golden. It is the fourth work in a set of brief solo cello pieces that all explore the same musical material from different perspectives. Clausula (noun, Latin) – an ornamented cadence especially in early Renaissance music The work is flexible and lyric-gradually expanding and contracting its basic musical material within a passionate discourse. The Greek myth of Actaeon has numerous variants. In the most well known version (as told by the poet Kallimachos/Καλλίμαχος), the goddess Artemis was bathing in the forest when the hunter Actaeon mistakenly came across her. Transfixed by her supernal beauty, he gaped, whereupon the goddess transformed him into a stag, lest he speak to anyone of what he had seen. The now-cervine Actaeon was then torn to pieces by his hunting dogs. This piece does not attempt to portray the myth programmatically. Rather, it explores musically the transformed Actaeon’s internal emotional state following his encounter with the goddess.

My father made the first sketches for this work, a commission marking the retirement of his colleague (in the Guardini Foundation) Hermann Schuster, in early summer, 2002. The event took place on the 9th September, 2002 in Berlin and there the first performance was given by Julius Berger. Those letters from his colleague's name corresponding to notes of the scale provided the musical material for the composition.<br> Only a few days before his death (9th August, 2002), he gave me the last instructions regarding the sketches, to which I gave the name Farewell.<br> A work which in its brevity touches deeply with animated, simple and saving strength. (Stefan D. Hummel).
