Spring of Home Country Op.159 Viola Concerto “Spring in Hometown†can be said to be a variational concerto in a word. It is a concerto composed with the theme of the melody of Nan-pa Hong, who played an important role in spreading Western music in Korea. Children’s song “Spring in Hometown†was composed in 1929 and is a familiar melody to all Koreans, young and old. The content of the poem is about the beautiful and nostalgic nostalgia of the village where he lived as a child. Following the lively ensemble in 4/4 time, a solo viola that seems to read a poem plays the theme, followed by the first variation composed of a splendid broken chord. Variations 2 and 3 are played by soloists and ensembles, crossing the traditional Korean rhythms “Jajinmori†and “Kutkoriâ€. In Variation 4, the slowly expanded theme is played by the ensemble with a consoldino (played using a muted instrument), and the solo viola adorns the theme of the ensemble with up and down notes. Then, the solo viola’s cadenza, the final variation of a majestic personality, and a short coda decorate the end. Attached YouTube Link is played by Violin and Strings, it's just for a reference.

My perspective of life in the rural midwest of the United States was quite pastoral, peaceful and quiet, but in 2020 I moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan and suddenly had opportunities as well as challenges I had never experienced before. However, many other new music students I spoke to stated how much smaller the city felt to them than their hometown. It was so interesting to see how the places we were raised impacted our view of how we live and communicate as a human race. I began imagining all the places in the universe where my small town would appear to be booming with life from its perspective–a lone farmhouse, the depths of the ocean, the edges of outer space, etc. One incredible thing about perspectives is that they are always changing, just as we are. The unfamiliar can always become familiar, and the familiar can always become unfamiliar.”-Adam Lenhart, 2024---------------------------Adam Lenhart (b. 2002) is a University of Michigan student of music theory, composition, voice and organ from Ottawa Lake, Michigan. As a theorist, his areas of study vary widely, including 18th century counterpoint, the early American Sacred Harp tradition and impressionism. As a composer, his music draws inspiration from nature, mathematics and poetry. In 2020 he was awarded the Michigan Music Education Associations Young Composers of Michigan award, as well as first prize in the University of Toledo Young Composers competition. Lenhart has also participated in numerous ensembles across Michigan, including the MYAF All-State Choir, Tecumseh Pops Orchestra, University of Michigan Mens Glee Club and the SMTD University Choir. He thoroughly enjoys collaboration with other composers, performers, poets and visual artists. Some of his recent projects include collaborations with individuals from the University of Michigan Chamber Music, History, and Poetry departments.

This arrangement was created to commemorate both the 50th anniversary of the 1970 Christmas movie musical SCROOGE & the 250th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven. A more detailed description of this piece & the story & imaginings behind it is included in its covering pages. However, it may be summarized by its subtitle, What If Liszt Played Beethoven While Scrooge & the Londoners Celebrated?  (Franz Liszt was performing in a European concert tour at the same time that Charles Dickens was writing A Christmas Carol in 1843. Liszt's purpose for the tour was to raise money for constructing a statue of Beethoven in his hometown of Bonn, Germany.) The piece begins in the key of Bb for the first 3 verses of the song. The 3rd verse consists of a variation on the melody in the style of Beethoven, perhaps as Liszt might have written & performed it. The key is raised to C major for the final verse, which includes a few quotes from Beethoven's Symphony No. 5, and concludes with some final lines from his Choral Symphony No. 9 as well as The 5th. The full time of performance by piano/keyboard, solo voice and/or choir is approximately 4 minutes, which may be shortened & simplified by skipping the 3rd variation verse as indicated.

Most of her poems are full with detailed descriptions, transferring the poems to a medium of picture, carefully painted and calculated. Yet, it is quiet amazing that these poems came from the hand of a woman who lived secluded life, in her hometown Amherst, Massachusetts. A clue may be finds in one of Dickinson's saying: To shut our eyes is to travel. As I approached Dickinson's poems (which are close to 2000), I found that most of them, even the short ones, are built into a large space. Each poem needs its development time and cannot be rushed or squeezed to a regular song form. In The Sea of Sunset, I have let the words, the nature description, and the lazy mood of the poem take me to the picture medium. Adding the murmur of the sea, and the whisper of the wind, I tried to get as close as possible to the picture I saw through the poem. Spring of Home Country Op.159 Violin Concerto “Spring in Home Country†can be said to be a variational concerto in a word. It is a concerto composed with the theme of the melody of Nan-pa Hong, who played an important role in spreading Western music in Korea. Children’s song “Spring in Hometown†was composed in 1929 and is a familiar melody to all Koreans, young and old. The content of the poem is about the beautiful and nostalgic nostalgia of the village where he lived as a child. Following the lively ensemble in 4/4 time, a solo violin that seems to read a poem plays the theme, followed by the first variation composed of a splendid broken chord. Variations 2 and 3 are played by soloists and ensembles, crossing the traditional Korean rhythms “Jajinmori†and “Kutkoriâ€. In Variation 4, the slowly expanded theme is played by the ensemble with a consoldino (played using a muted instrument), and the solo violin adorns the theme of the ensemble with up and down notes. Then, the solo violin’s cadenza, the final variation of a majestic personality, and a short coda decorate the end.

He sang the first eight bars of the song at the beginning of each episode of his eponymous television show and named his production company and venue in Branson, Missouri after it. His autobiography is called Moon River and Me. Williams' version was never released as a single, but it charted as an LP track that he recorded for Columbia on a hit album of 1962. Cadence Records' president Archie Bleyer disliked Williams' version, as Bleyer believed it had little or no appeal to teenagers. Forty years later in 2002, a 74-year-old Williams sang the song at the conclusion of the live telecast of the NBC 75th Anniversary Special to a standing ovation. The song's success was responsible for relaunching Mercer's career as a songwriter, which had stalled in the mid-1950s because rock and roll had replaced jazz standards as the popular music of the time. The song's popularity is such that it has been used as a test sample in a study on people's memories of popular songs. Comments about the lyrics have noted that they are particularly reminiscent of Mercer's youth in the Southern United States and his longing to expand his horizons. Robert Wright wrote in The Atlantic Monthly, This is a love sung to wanderlust. Or a romantic song in which the romantic partner is the idea of romance. An inlet near Savannah, Georgia, Johnny Mercer's hometown, was named Moon River in honor of him and this song.
