Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.534483 Composed by Germaine Tailleferre. 20th Century,Concert,Standards. Score and parts. 65 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3534799. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534483). This work was written in the first months of 1942 while Tailleferre was living in Grasse, in the socolled« Free Zone » of occupied France during the Second World War and was completed just asTailleferre was forced to flee France with her daughter. As the wife of Jean Lageat, who had been thesecretary of the French socialist Léon Blum during the « Front Populaire » period just before the Warand who was at that time in the US working against the Vichy Government, and as someone who wasnot unvocal about her political views, this could not have been a comfortable situation. Tailleferre left arecord of what she experienced during this period in an article written for the American music journal «Modern Music » which she wrote shortly after arriving in America in the Spring of 1942 :« Notwithstanding their staunch spirit of resistence, the people under German rule today areincreasingly bowed down under their burdens. By achieving the physical decline of the French, theNazis hope that spiritual collapse will ensue. However, after two years of quasi-famine, France remainspround and great, although the necessity of liberation grows daily more urgent.....For an artist to workunder these conditions is almost impossible. The mere effort of subsisting wastes time and absorbsenergy ; The means to work are also lacking.....Musical composition is made practically impossiblethrough lack of music paper. For more than a year, I sought in vain to find paper in Lyon, Marseillesand Nice on which to copy an orchestral score...Two years of experience under German rule havetaught me that all expressions of pride, dignity, spirit , aspiration of the human will can be made onlyclaudestinely. It is a historical truth that the human mind makes its greatest progress under freedom ».Under such circumstances, it is a miracle that this work exists at all. The three movement work wasdedicated to the famous Marguerite Long, for whom Tailleferre had already written several short worksfor piano solo, and François Lang, a pianist who was closely linked with the Group des Six and whohad performed in the première of the 1934 Concerto Grosso for Two Pianos, 8 Solo Voices, SaxophoneQuartet and Orchestra and for whom Tailleferre wrote two cadenzas for concerti by Mozart and Haydn. The work opens with sunny, optimistism in a mood similar to the opening movement of the ConcertoGrosso, but quickly the mood changes to more dramatic themes. The second movement seems tosubjectively express a rupture with the past and a tragic melancholy. The final third movement isextremely dramatic and almost frightening with it’s force. When Tailleferre left France in the Spring of 1942, having been warned by a neighbor that she wasgoing to be arrested if she didn’t leave immediately, she left the score in a two-piano version, probablydue to the fact that there was no music paper to be had to copy the score. When she returned to Francein 1946, she learned that François Lang had been deported to Auschwitz where he died. Musical life inFrance had been completely changed by the War years. Tailleferre put the work aside and forgot aboutit, perhaps wanting to forget the hardships that she had lived through and the loss of many of her friendsassociated with these years.Tailleferre's version for two pianos is published by Musik Fabrik and the work may be performed inthat version. It is clear however, that the work was intended to be orchestrated and the editors hope thatthe present orchestration will allow the work to finally be presented as Tailleferre conceived duringsome of the darkest years of the Twentieth century.

Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.874250 Composed by Claude Debussy. Arranged by Ray-Michael Kauffman , a doRayme flute studio production. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary. Score and parts. 21 pages. As do Ray meflute studio production #3927235. Published by as do Ray meflute studio production (A0.874250). Https://youtu.be/_e_043JWML4Des pas sur la neige is a musical composition by French composer Claude Debussy. It is the sixth piece in the composer's first book of Preludes, written between late 1909 and early 1910. The title is in French and translates to Footprints in the Snow . The piece is one of four Debussy preludes in book # 1. Thought to be inspired by the hugely popular French impressionist painting , called Snow at Louveciennes, Debussy's inspiration from Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky is evident in this piece through his utilization of a block-like dissonant chord just before the middle part of the piece My own personal touches on this piece, included extended chord progression and formation with small variants on melody and counter melodies, Also, more importantly, the expression of the performers interpretation as well as my own for the creation and musically paint a magical snow scene.Arranged and scored for piccolo, 6 flutes in c, alto flute in g, bass flute , opt. contra bass flute and / or optional cello.Perfect for large and small ensembles. Perfect for winter concerts, prelude services, recitals, concerts. I thought this impressionist piece, much like the the famous french paintings are a perfect pairing for winter, snow days, and environmental effects . Obviously, this is a professional arrangement, and super difficult to find on SHeetMusicPLus , compared to so many other simple and basic , cookie-cutter formatted arrangementsThis arrangement, however is true professionally arranged and definitely will stand out and shine for you ensemble or choir.A must for flute choir libraries!!

Concert Band - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1023994 Composed by Kyle Wernke. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 425 pages. Kyle Wernke Publishing #2120113. Published by Kyle Wernke Publishing (A0.1023994). Formations, is a celebration of the cosmos; a celebration of the tiniest of particles to the largest galaxies and everything in between. Since I was a child I've looked up at the sky and seen a world full of wonder, beauty, and mystery. The same wonder that filled my heart when I was in elementary school still takes hold when I look up now, decades later. I chose the formation of things for a specific reason. When I was a kid I had a habit of asking my parents where everything came from. It wasn't enough that a star was there, I needed to know how it got there and if possible why it was there. As I grew up I developed an immense appetite for almost all things science and history and with that came some of the answers I needed. The reality of how these things came to be was so much more interesting and astounding than my imagination that all these years later I am still captivated by the idea of an exploding star or the Big Bang. So lets take a journey, you and I. First we'll see the death of an immense star and watch as its own gravity rips it apart and forms a black hole. We'll see it feed on matter and light around it until it too finally dies. Next we'll go back 13.7 billion years and watch as tiny particles dance in and out of existence in the endless nothingness that once was. We'll see one of these tiny bits expand in an instant and give rise to everything that ever has been or will be. Watch hydrogen form and gravity pull it into the first stars. Those stars will form galaxies and we'll see glimpses of the Universe as it exists now. Finally, we will travel to the end of time, a trillion years or more into the future. There we will witness the dissipation of the galaxies, the death of stars, and the final moments as even tiny electrons are pulled apart into the nothing from which we all came. Parts of this piece are violent, but we will see that at the end of time, the formation of nothing is just as beautiful as the formation of a star. Everything has its time and everything ends. Premiered by the Hartt Wind Ensemble - Glen Adsit, Conductor.

Full Orchestra - Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Manuel de Espinosa de los Monteros (1730-1810). Arranged by Keith Terrett. Classical Period, European, Patriotic. 30 pages. Published by Music for all Occasions
The Spanish National Anthem arranged for full Symphony Orchestra, there is a short version in my store in case you need it! Just need a sporting event now such as an Olympics!<br> <br> The Marcha Real (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈmartʃa reˈal], "Royal March") is the national anthem of Spain. It is one of only three national anthems (along with that of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Kosovo) in the world to have no official lyrics.<br> <br> One of the oldest in the world, the anthem was first printed in a document dated 1761 and entitled Libro de la Ordenanza de los Toques de Pífanos y Tambores que se tocan nuevamente en la Ynfant° Española (Book of the Ordenance of Newly Played Military Drum and Fife Calls by The Spanish Infantry ), by Manuel de Espinosa. Here it is entitled La Marcha Granadera ("March of the Grenadiers"). There is written its score on this book. According to this document, Manuel de Espinosa de los Monteros is the composer.<br> <br> There is a false belief that Marcha Real’s author was Frederick II of Prussia, a great lover of music. This belief started in 1861 when it appears for the first time publied in La España militar (The Militar Spain). In 1864, the colonel Antonio Vallecillo publishes the history in the diary El Espíritu Público (The Public Spirit), making the supposed Prussian origin of Marcha Real popular. According to Vallecillo, the anthem was a gift from Frederick II to the soldier Juan Martín Álvarez de Sotomayor, who was serving in the Prussian Court to learn the military tactics developed by Frederick II’s army, under orders of King Charles III. In 1868 the history is published in Los Sucesos, changing the destinatary of the gift with Pedro Pablo Abarca de Bolea, Count of Aranda. The myth was picked up like this in different publications of 1884 and 1903, until being included in 1908 in the Enciclopedia Espasa.<br> <br> According to the tradition in 1770, Charles III declared the Marcha de Granaderos as the official Honor March, and with that formalized the habit of playing it in public and solemn acts. It became the official anthem during Isabel II’s reign.<br> <br> After the 1868 Revolution, General Prim convoked a national contest to create an official anthem, but it was declared deserted, advising the jury that Marcha de Granaderos was considered as such. By Alfonso XIII’s time, it was established by a Royal Circular Order (27 August 1908) that interpreted the harmonization of the march done by Bartolomé Pérez Casas, Major Music of the Royal Corps of Halberdier Guards. During the Second Republic, Himno de Riego was adopted as official anthem, although after the Spanish Civil War, Marcha Real returned to be used as anthem, sometimes sung with the verses written by the poet José María Pemán in 1928.<br> <br> The actual symphonic version of the Marcha Real that replaces the Pérez Casas one, belongs to maestro Francisco Grau and is the official one after the Royal Decree of 10 October 1997, when the Kingdom of Spain bought the author rights of the Marcha Real, then belonging to Pérez Casas’ Heirs. According to the Royal Decree 1560/1997, the anthem should have a tone of B major and a tempo of 76 bpm (♩=76), with a form of AABB and a duration of 52 seconds.<br> <br> Under the Trienio Liberal (1820-1823), the First Spanish Republic (1873–74) (when it enjoyed of a co-officiality) and the Second Spanish Republic (1931–1939), El Himno de Riego replaced La Marcha Real as the national anthem of Spain. At the conclusion of the Civil War, however, Francisco Franco restored La Marcha Real as the country’s national anthem, under its old title of La Marcha Granadera.<br> <br> Interpretation and etiquette:<br> <br> Military bands of the Spanish Armed Forces and the National Police Corps of Spain and civilian Marching bands and Concert bands play the B flat-major version of the anthem adapted for wind bands (as arranged by Francisco Grau), and playing the A Major version is optional.<br> <br> The bugle call "To the Colors" in Spain is the version played by Bugle bands in Spanish churches in religious occasions and processions organized by civil groups and the parishes. Various versions adapted for the drum and the bugle are used, even though brass instruments play the anthem as well. But in some bugle bands, the A flat version of the anthem (the old official one, adapted for the bugle) is played. Only a bugle call is sounded when the B flat version is played.<br> <br> Being the National Anthem, and in honor of the King and Queen of Spain, it’s a common practice for all to stand once it is played. Even though it is also played in church events, respect for the King and Queen (and the Royal Family as well) is required by everyone in attendance. As it happens civilians stand at attention while those in uniform salute when not in formation.<br> <br> The current official version, as described in Royal Decree 1560/1997, is a sixteen-bar long phrase, divided in two sections, each one is made up of four repeated bars (AABB form). Tempo is set to ♩= 76 and key to B flat.<br> <br> The long, complete version is the honors music for the King, while a shorter version without the repetitions is performed for the President of the Government of Spain, the Prince of Asturias, or during sporting events.<br> <br> There are also three official arrangements: one for orchestra, another for military band, and a third for organ, written by Francisco Grau Vegara and requested by the Government of Spain. All in all, there are six different official adaptations, for each arrangement and length. They all were recorded by the Spanish National Orchestra and the Spanish Royal Guard Band as an official recording and released on compact disc for a limited period of time.<br> <br> As the harmonization of the Marcha Real was written by Bartolomé Pérez Casas in the early 1900s, the copyright has not yet expired. The government bought it from Pérez Casas’ estate in 1997 for 130,000,000 pesetas (~ € 781,316) to avoid future legal problems. Until it expires, the copyright belongs to the Ministry of Culture and collecting societies charge copyright fees, which has led to criticism.<br> <br> As a result, many different harmonisations have been devised by performers to avoid paying. Nonetheless, the rights to the 1997 Francisco Grau revision were transferred to the government at no charge, although they were not placed in the public domain.<br> <br> Need an anthem fast? They are ALL in my store! All my anthem arrangements are also available for Orchestra, Recorders, Saxophones, Wind, Brass and Flexible band. If you need an anthem urgently for an instrumentation not in my store, let me know via e-mail, and I will arrange it for you FOC if possible! keithterrett@gmail.com

Piano Trio,String Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.511808 Composed by Han-Ki Kim. Classical,Contemporary,Instructional,Multicultural,Standards,World. Score and parts. 18 pages. Han-Ki Kim #6437551. Published by Han-Ki Kim (A0.511808). Arirang for Piano Trio Op.154EThis music is based on a string ensemble composed for Italian ensemble I Musici, they asked me to write a music to commemorate their 60th anniversary (2012). The conclusion of the idea that a music to celebrate their founding should be special was to write a music based on our folk song. Since the folk song “Arirangâ€, which contains the soul of our ancestors, is unique to Korea, it has great meaning in celebrating their anniversary with our own, and especially these days, when the desire to find ours is strong, our melody is performed on the world stage. I wanted to give a second meaning to what I left behind. I want both the performer and the audience to feel “musical sympathy†with this “Arirang,†which is an effort to give value as an artistic document to a folk song that is familiar to everyone. Following the short and fast introduction in 3/4 time, it is connected in the form of 5 variations in 6/8 time. Each variation expresses a different musical atmosphere, performance speed, or change in composition. In general, the main melody is mainly played by the first violin, but as far as the main melody is concerned, in this music, high-pitched instruments and low-pitched instruments intersect and cycle in equal positions, not in a melodicline relationship. After the fourth variation, a virtuosic solo of the movement alone is connected, and after the finale with a broad and majestic atmosphere, it ends with a short and lively coda with the same character as the beginning. Attached music is played by String ensemble just for a reference.

Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.891956 Composed by A.E.Williams. Arranged by Stephen Davies. 20th Century,Standards. Score and Parts. 74 pages. Stephen Davies #6094485. Published by Stephen Davies (A0.891956).   CLARINET CONCERT CONCERTINO FOR WIND BAND I don’t normally enter long descriptions of my arrangements, nothing worse than seeing that little sign on the bottom right saying ‘see more’, however this piece has a rather interesting story that I’d like to share with you! It was maybe 8 or 9 years ago that I helped in the library of the Band Of The Guards Association, a group of musicians who were all members of the Household Division Bandsin London, that is to say the Grenadier, Coldstream, Scots, Irish, Welsh, Life Guards and Blues & Royals bands, chiefly known the world over for Changing The Guard at Buckingham Palace and many other ceremonial occasions. The Band Of The Guards Association were privileged to rehearse at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, home of the famous Chelsea Pensioners, renowned for their Redcoats and medals as veterans of the British Army. Our library of music for the band at the time was held in an air raid shelter deep in the cellars underneath the labyrinthine corridors of the old building built by Sir Christopher Wren back in the 1680’s. When I say ‘air raid shelter’, that is exactly what it was like! Can’t go into too much detail, but suffice it to say that it was like being transported back in time! But this is where the library was kept, complete with dusty shelves, blackout warnings, obsolete bulb replacements and tunnels to the Thames! The man in charge of the library was Mr.Gordon ‘Joe’ Stafford, former Solo Clarinet with HM Band Of The Welsh Guards (ret’d), a fine player of that instrument in his day, and revered as such even now. About 8 years ago, our ‘underground ‘ library was deemed a fire hazard, and we were ‘invited’ to move it elsewhere. As we had our practice room nearby in the Chelsea Hospital, we decided to relocate the whole library there, shelving being built and constructed by enthusiastic band members. Joe Stafford and myself were not particularly enthusiastic about this, but it had to be done. Having looked at the enormous amount of music to be moved, we thought about ditching some of the scores which would never be played again, for instance selections of musicals long forgotten, scores with multiple missing parts etc. Lots of that music went to local music organisations simply for sight reading purposes, and the more complete versions went to bands and orchestras to bolster their stock of scores. After the laborious sorting out in the air raid shelter, Joe and I had the unenviable task of discarding the scores and parts that were incomplete, defaced, or just basically useless. It was an arbitrary case of ‘keep or throw’, and at the time we were doing this, Joe was desperate for a pint in the bar! I agreed, and was anyway on my last batch of throwaways when I found a piece titled ‘Clarinet Concerto’, by A.E.Williams. Written in pencil, with ancient sellotape, and signed by all the people who played it many years ago, including the Soloist and composer, I thought that that should not be binned, so I kept it! Joe Stafford suggested that I should ‘get it out there’ , so I have. Incidentally it has a cracking Cadenza towards the end, it was a bit smudged in the original score, but I’ve filled in the gaps!! This would be an ideal addition to the band repertoire for Clarinet!

Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1085410 Composed by Edward Elgar. Arranged by James K. Taylor. Classical,Folk,Instructional,Multicultural,Traditional,World. Score and parts. 36 pages. James K. Taylor #689561. Published by James K. Taylor (A0.1085410). Notice: The string score and parts are not on the band score, but you will find them in the PDF bundle of Band Score, Band Parts, String score, and String parts. This is a basic straight-ahead arrangement of the Graduation Song from Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance. It is a quick learn, and although it looks easy at first glance, it should sound great with any size band or string group, second year through professional. I have added a string score and parts in the PDF bundle. These parts may be performed as a string ensemble or with the band resulting in an orchestra format. The beauty of this arrangement is that it can be performed with just the strings, woodwinds or the brass section or any combination. Just percussion might sound a little thin. If there is a large group graduating, everyone does not have to play the whole time. Enjoy.

Jacques Leguerney: String Quartet in D for two violins, viola and cello

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.534402 Composed by Jacques Leguerney. 20th Century,Standards. Score and parts. 125 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3457403. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534402). Jacques Leguerney (1906-1997) composed two string quartets. The Premier Quatuor à cordes was composed in 1925 during Leguerneyâ??s private piano and composition study with French pianist Thérèse Cahen. His second quartet, subject of this publication by Musik Fabrik, was written between November 1947 and September 1948. The four movements are: I. Allegro moderato; II. Intermezzo; III. Scherzando; IV. Presto-Andantino. This work was, in part, Leguerneyâ??s response to the Premier Quatuor à cordes (inédit) by his colleague, Henri Sauguet. Leguerney stated in a personal interview with Patrick Choukroun (18 May 1989) that: â??I wrote it a bit in opposition to Sauguetâ??s Premier Quatuor. It seemed to me that his quartet was without interest: just scratchings! I wanted to express my way of looking at it from the classical viewpoint of the past: it is almost in the spirit of Mozart, except for the harmonic language, of course. In fact, I wanted to fight against everything that has been done to a quartet since Beethovenâ??s last ones.â? The premiere of the Quatuor à cordes en ré mineur was by the Quatuor Pro Arte at the Abbaye de Royaumont. Before this performance, Poulenc sent Leguerney the following note: â??Fortunate man for whom twelve strings are enough to charm people, I wish you good luck and respectfully embrace you.â? (Handwritten letter, Reims, 4 September 1959). Leguerney was appointed artistic director of the Lumen recording company in 1951, and remained in this position until 1959. He produced four recordings of his music, including the Quatuor Pro Arteâ??s recording of the Quatuor à cordes en ré mineur (1947-1948) (Lumen, LD 2.440, 1958). This disc won the Grand Prix du Disque de lâ??Académie Charles Cros on 13 March 1959. The Pro Arteâ??s members were Suzanne Plazonich, Violin I; Chantal Beylier, Violin II; Nicole Gendreau, Viola; and Micheline Burtin, Cello. Francis Poulenc wrote to Leguerney concerning this recording: â??It is very good Leguerney. Of course, frivolous as I am and shall always remain, it is the 2nd movement that I prefer. Between us, I am like you: I prefer the scherzos after the andantes; that way one is not forced to write a Finale allegro. Yours pleases me very much, in fact, so to my ears it is III-IV-I-II, in the order of pleasure.â? (Manuscript letter, Bagnols, 14 October 1959) The radio station France I broadcast the Quatuor with on 11 July 1959 on the program Schola of the series Concert de musique contemporaine, again with the Quatuor Pro Arte. An archive recording of this broadcast exists on magnetic tape. Critic Claude Rostand wrote: â??Jacques Leguerney does not seem to have looked for special innovations either in form or language. His basic thought seems especially to have written a quartet, that is to say on one hand to have used the four voices with elegance and originality, clarity and homogeneity (four-part writing seems to always have come naturally to him, even at the piano), and on the other hand to exploit all of the supple cushioning that can result from the caress of a bow on a string.â? Critic Emile Vuillermoz wrote: â??His only ambition is to expresses clear and affectionate melodic ideas, in a highly distinguished, elegant and refined language, meaning an homage, in the beginning of our century, to the trios of the greatest stylists of our time. In fact, it is from the vocabulary of Fauré, Debussy and Ravel that he takes his grammar and syntax and that with which he carries out with his this harmonic writing that is both supple and sparse, that is so congenial to the association of four string instruments. This quartet, whose first movement is of a rare perfection, is a delicate enchantment.â? The Musik Fabrik edition of the Quatuor à cordes en ré mineur is taken from a photocopy of the composerâ??s manuscript of the full score. We also had access to the quartet parts found in Leg.

Large Ensemble Cello,Double Bass,Harp,Oboe,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.889419 Composed by Luis Anjos Teixeira. Concert,Contemporary. Score and parts. 36 pages. Luis Anjos Teixeira #3492515. Published by Luis Anjos Teixeira (A0.889419). For the 2018 Chamber Music Contest Entry Eternal Bridge was made to be performed by a group of six soloists playing the following instruments: Oboe, Harp, Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass. It is not a difficult piece once learned. It is really a great fun for the players and very easy listening too, It covers a very wide range of audience demands. There is a groove feeling on it that makes it very pleasant to most all people. Because of its plasticity the piece allows many interpretations, therefore I did not made much use of interpretation symbols in order to leave to the performers the freedom of doing their own. Bowing and fingering are left totally virgin at the hands of the schools or the creativity of the performing Artists. P.S. - The score was written on Finale. The sound file For the 2018 Chamber Music Contest Entry, was performed with samplers from Garritan and conceived as an audio support for the presentation of the score. This is the first time that this version is published in Sheet Music Plus. Thank you very much for taking your time to read this text and to listen to the file. I hope you have a lot of fun and enjoy the music. Sheers! Thanks to Claudia Eppelt for the cover design, all the Love and inspiration. Special Thanks to Nina and Stray Queen Mimi for my Family, all their Love Patience and Compassion. Love Forever.„The litle story of the - „Eternal BridgeEternal Bridge came out of a dream. Imagine a little railway station, a train that comes and stops, and your friends go inside. As you step on the little stairs to go inside, the doors close letting you out, and the train starts rolling. It speeds up very fast and enough so you can`t jump out of the little stairs back to the ground, you are holding now to the iron bars around the doors of the train, you see your friends and the people inside but they can`t see you, they can`t hear you, and you notice that the train is now on a bridge so high, that you can`t see the earth any more. Wind is blowing around me and I feel this cosmic cold and everything starts to twist around in a gigantic spiral. I still feel the Gravity but it goes in all directions at the same time pushing me violently and I feared to fail the grip on the iron bars and fall down, in an imaginary endless abyss. Little by little the speed of the events slows down progressively until everything freezes. Now, The other side of the bridge does not exist at all, neither the beginning or up or down. The train disappeared in a glimpse and I noticed that I was not falling down, just hanging there out in hyperspace, Free from Gravity. I lost the fear of falling in the abyss, it felt kind a good, because the only thing that I could see was light, pure beautiful bright white light, I was floating in light, I realised I could stay there forever, but then I felt lonely and wanted to come back home. When I finally woke up, I wrote this words in Portuguese and made a song out of it. the words go like:Ponte eterna abismo sem fundo - Vento ciclónico medo profundo - Comboio gelado lentidão d`aço - Espiral eterna suspensa no espaço - Maos agarram a vida duas barras d` aço - Corpo sacudido em espasmos de medo - Alucinação divina acordar de um sonho Eternal Bridge endless Abyss - Cyclonic wind deep Fear - Frozen Train slowness of steel - Eternal spiral suspended in space - Hands cling to life on two bars of steel - Body shaken into spasms of fear - Divine hallucination waking up from a dream

Full Orchestra - Digital Download SKU: A0.942100 Composed by Apostolos Paraskevas. 20th Century,Contemporary,World. Score and parts. 121 pages. Silver Sickle Publications #6253447. Published by Silver Sickle Publications (A0.942100). Constitution Article 91 (Double Concerto for flute and guitar in one movement). A quite demanding concerto from a technical point of view, unfolds many sonorities for both solo instruments as well as orchestra, including dense texture, polyphony, and a flavor of minimalism just before the end. After an agitated orchestra introduction, the flute enters with a lamenting and painful melody. The guitar takes over by introducing the core motivic elements of the work. Flute and guitar join in a chase-like duet with virtuosic passages in both instruments, accompanied by the orchestra in a frenzied commotion. The slow and almost distorted cadenza (with the snare drum) comes as a surprise and at the same time as a moment of relief. The tension increases as propulsive rhythms drive through the finale and build with rapid agitation to the end. The title of the work, Constitution Article 91, refers to a part of the former Greek constitution used by the dictatorship between 1967 and 1974 to abolish democracy in Greece. Certain rhythms in the work come from a fearsome and agitated speech that the dictator delivered to the academicians in 1973 following the students movement against the tyranny. Constitution Article 91 is a real tour de force for the soloists. In this colorful work, Apostolos Paraskevas shows us that a meeting point can be found between advanced contemporary idioms and evocations of an almost popular style. This music is notable for its rhythmic verve, its melodic grace, and its emotional depth. It has genuine substance, but speaks directly to the listener-a rare and welcome achievement. The piece was originally composed for orchestra then arranged for organ and performed by Mendelssohn himself. Mendelssohn: Wedding March Mendelssohn’s Wedding March is so popular that it’s difficult to imagine a wedding without it. It seems like it’s been around for eternity. In any case, it was only 150 years or so ago that the Wedding March came about. It was performed in Potsdam for the first time in 1842, as a piece of Mendelssohn’s music for the Shakespeare play A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It was first used for a wedding in 1858 Mendelssohn Background Felix Mendelssohn (1809 –1847) was, by all means, a German mastermind composer, musician and orchestra conductor of the Romantic period. Consequently, Mendelssohn composed in the usual forms of the time - symphonies, concertos, oratorios, piano music, and chamber music. To summarize, his most famous works include his music for A Midsummer Night's Dream, the Italian Symphony, the Scottish Symphony, The Hebrides Overture, his later Concerto for Violin & Orchestra, and his Octet for Strings. His most well-known piano pieces, by and large, are the Songs Without Words. Artistic Standing Musical tastes change from time to time. Moreover, just such a change occurred in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This plus rampant antisemitism brought a corresponding amount of undue criticism. Fortunately, however, his artistic inventiveness has indeed been critically re-evaluated. As a result, Mendelssohn is once again among the most prevalent composers of the Romantic era. Early Family Life Mendelssohn was, in fact, born into a prominent Jewish family. His grandfather was, notably, the philosopher Moses Mendelssohn. Felix was, in fact, raised without religion. At the age of seven, he was all of a sudden baptized as a Reformed Christian. He was, moreover, a child musical prodigy. Nevertheless, his parents did not attempt to exploit his talent. Early Adulthood Mendelssohn was, in general, successful in Germany. He conducted, in particular, a revival of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, specifically with his presentation of the St Matthew Passion in 1829. Felix was truly in demand throughout Europe as a composer, conductor, and soloist. For example, he visited Britain ten times. There, he premiered, namely, many of his major works. His taste in music was. To be sure, inventive and well-crafted yet markedly conservative. This conservatism separated him by all means from more audacious musical colleagues like Liszt, Wagner, and Berlioz. Mendelssohn founded the Leipzig Conservatoire which, to clarify, became a defender of this conservative viewpoint. Mature Adulthood Schumann notably wrote that Mendelssohn was the Mozart of the nineteenth century, the most brilliant musician, the one who most clearly sees through the contradictions of the age and for the first time reconciles them. This observation points to a couple of features in particular that illustrate Mendelssohn's works and his artistic procedure. Musical Features In the first place, his musical style was fixed in his methodical mastery of the style of preceding masters. This being said, he certainly recognized and even developed early romanticism from the music of Beethoven and Weber. Secondly, it indicates that Mendelssohn sought to strengthen his inherited musical legacy rather than to exchange it with new forms and styles or replace it with exotic orchestration. C.
