Composed by Giya Kancheli (1935-). Arranged by Andrei Pushkarev. Contemporary Classical, Movies. Score. 65 pages. Published by KANCHELIMUSIC
I am very happy to share this book with you: thirty-three miniatures by the great Georgian composer Giya Kancheli based on his music for theater and cinema. Originally, the miniatures were written for piano; I have transcribed them for solo vibraphone. I discovered Giya?s music as a member of Kremerata Baltica, the chamber orchestra spearheaded by the world-renowned violinist Gidon Kremer, with whom I have been collaborating for more than twenty years. Not only did I have the opportunity to perform the music of the Maestro - I was lucky to get to him know him well. Our first artistic encounter took place at Gidon Kremer?s Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival in Austria, where Giya Kancheli had been a frequent composer-in-residence. He was a man of rare human warmth, sincerity, charm, passion and positive aura, with a wonderful sense of humor. At the same time it would be difficult to find a person more meticulous and demanding regarding the performance of his compositions, where every little detail matters. Giya said: "Whether my music is played matters less than the way it is played". When you open this book, you'll understand better what Maestro meant. His music is incrementally sensitive, every stroke, every change of harmony, even every rest carries its own expressive significance, its own mood, its own energy. A thoughtful approach to timing becomes the magic key to the interpretation of Kancheli?s works - in every period, in every measure and in every beat. The unique timbres and color capacities of the vibraphone, I am absolutely convinced, allow the performer and listener to immerse themselves in the majestic microcosm of extremely subtle, tender, and sublimely inspiring imagery that is the musical world of Giya Kancheli. I?m sure you will enjoy it! Andrei Pushkarev

Cello Solo - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1095693 Composed by Julie Munkholm …

Cello Solo - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1095693 Composed by Julie Munkholm Bruun. Blues,Classical,Rock. Individual part. 41 pages. Julie Munkholm Bruun #699675. Published by Julie Munkholm Bruun (A0.1095693). There's a new cello lesson book on the market! In this book I've turned the normal way of learning to play the cello upside down. With a little bit of creativity, and a lot of knowledge and understanding about how the instrument works - and how students learn - I have created this book. I hope you will love it just as much as I do, and that it will help you build a good foundation for your cello playing. FROM THE INTRODUCTION: This lesson book was created with a new perspective in mind. My hope is, that this way of learning, will make it easier to learn to play the cello. I have chosen to include a few chapters in the beginning of the book, where you will play on open strings. That will help you establish a good, basic understanding for how the cello should sound. It will also give you the opportunity to build up strength in the left hand slowly – and concentrate on getting a good, basic bowing technique. I have included small chapters with music theory, that I find important in order to understand how the instrument works. The cello doesn't have any keys or frets to help you play in tune, so knowing a few tips and tricks will help you tremendously. As opposed to most cello lesson books, the first finger you will learn to use here is the 4th finger. The 4th finger is your little finger and usually the least strong finger of them all. Starting with 4th finger has 2 very important advantages: • When you use the 4th finger – especially in the beginning – you will use the other 3 fingers to help push the string down into the fingerboard. That will help you establish a good, healthy hand position for the left hand. And when you start with 4th finger, using the other 3 fingers will feel so easy! • 4th finger in the first position is the same note (an octave higher) as the open string below. It gives you the opportunity to use the open string to know if you play in tune. Once you have gone through this book you should be able to play with the bow, by plucking the strings (pizzicato) and use 1st, 3rd and 4th finger on the left hand. That means that you should be able to play songs in G Major and D Major in one octave. The last few chapters include duets for two cellos. I have chosen to include the duets to make it more fun to play and to start developing the students ability play chamber music. It is wonderful to be able to play an instrument, and playing with other people adds an extra dimension to that. Love, live, play! Julie.

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1153128 By U2. By U2. Arranged by Kyle Pudenz. Celtic,Contemporary,Irish,Pop,Rock. Score and parts. 30 pages. ViolinVagabond Music #753361. Published by ViolinVagabond Music (A0.1153128). One does not simply walk into their local music store to find a string arrangement like this one... Unlike much of what you'll find out in the world of cheap gig music, this was in fact written BY a string player who has played in symphony orchestras, rock bands, and everything in between; who knows what gigging as a quartet looks like, but also what will wow your audiences without requiring weeks of rehearsal to prepare. So leave your days of sight-reading through piano scores behind and give your quartet some firepower with this hard hitting chart, that will surely enable your ensemble to do at least a little justice to this legendarily emotional banger from Ireland's finest! Bono's soaring vocal melodies on this tune offer more than enough material on their own to tug at an audience's heartstrings, but in this chart you'll also find faithful adaptations of the iconic guitar & bass parts (performed by cello & viola) that truly make this song one of a kind. Using extended string techniques like chopping & strum bowing, you'll feel as if you're rocking out with the band... with no need to hire those annoying extra musicians. But as we all know, strings have much more to offer dynamically than simply plodding along mimicking a rock band, so I've taken several select moments in this chart to break away briefly from those driving grooves into more open, contemplative textures, truly allowing this instrumentation to shine in its own unique way. All of that said, maybe rhythmic string playing isn't your thing and you just need a chart that classical string players can read through on a cocktail gig where the buyer clearly doesn't pay attention to the lyrical content of their song requests. If that's the case, I've provided a couple alternate figures at the back of the book that can be used to replace the percussive stuff in the viola part, making it much simpler without sacrificing too much of the energy. OR if you want to go even further, maybe you DO want to hire that band after all so you can just relax and play some melody lines. Lucky for you I have included a rhythm section lead sheet as part of the music packet, so that any auxiliary musicians you want to add in will be able to follow along with ease. If you have absolutely no idea what chopping and strum bowing are, and you'd like to expand your horizons and learn a bit more, I highly recommend this resource: https://strum-bowing-groove-academy.teachable.com?coupon_code=KYLE20&affcode=459429_z8y3atf As mentioned before though, these techniques are not 100% necessary to handle this arrangement, so feel free to experiment on your own and add them in as you feel comfortable. Enjoy this chart, and don't be afraid to do a little head-banging once that groove really locks in! Performance time - approximately 4:05-4:20 depending on how hard you want to push the tempo Questions? Feel free to contact me via my website, www.kylepudenz.com/ or on the 'Insta @theviolinvagabond

Bassoon,Cello,Oboe,Violin,Voice - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1488216 Composed by Music: Alan Edgar and Trad. Lyrics: Alan Edgar, Sue Edgar, Alexander Pushkin. 20th Century,Folk,Thriller. 34 pages. Alan Edgar Ted Moon #1065102. Published by Alan Edgar Ted Moon (A0.1488216). RUSALKAS and MEN Soprano (mostly wordless, D up to A), Baritone (G# up to G), Oboe or Violin, and Cello or Bassoon. The instrument parts in the score are easily used for rehearsal on keyboard. Here are three songs about men's encounters with rusalkas (water-nymphs) in Slavic myth. Siren Song: a man describes his narrow escape from death. Lyrics by Sue Edgar. The Man’s melodies based on two Slavic folk tunes. The rusalka sings my own melody. King of the Underwater World: a very lucky man sings of his being favoured, made king and cosseted by a rusalka. He uses the Ukrainian dorian scale, the rusalka aeolian. Rusalka (Pусалка) by Alexander Pushkin: The baritone is the storyteller. For him I use D mixolydian alternating with b minor, but the rusalka mostly sings in half-whole octatonic. 26 minutes for all three songs.

The American Seasons (score – violin and string orchestra) MO148AScore (parts available)Music by Mark O’Connor99 pages - 38:00 minutes in length The American Seasons(Seasons Of An American Life)The American Seasons (Seasons Of An American Life) is a concerto for Violin And Chamber Orchestra. Composed in 1999, the music celebrates the various stages of an American life at the waking of the 21st century. Constructed in four movements and representing four stages of life, birth, adolescence, maturity and old age, the music also pays homage to Shakespeare's Seasons Of Man His acts being seven ages, incorporated throughout the work.Spring introduces the ideas of birth and infancy. After the principal theme has been stated, there is a violin cadenza encountering all twelve major keys and a 13/8 time signature representing the ancient golden ratio. These elements recall birth with all the possibilities a new life offers. Ending the movement, the principal theme is repeated with more complexity... as if posing life's questions.Summer represents the excitement and bravado of youthful adolescence and young adulthood. For the style of this movement I use a happy-go-lucky Blues voice which melds into Swing. I identify swing rhythm in all of 20th century American music culture as a common thread that runs through Ragtime through Rock and Roll on to Rap. Swing means testing the waters and pushing the envelope for lovers and soldiers.Fall is the slow movement symbolizing the wisdom of maturity. It is a peaceful theme with nostalgic strokes. It is a time for sincere reflection and enjoying ones accomplishments in life.Winter embodies the complexities and knowledge of an older person and that of a dying person. The movement begins with the principal them from Spring, but with a dissonance that emanates from a lifetime full of emotions and responsibilities. In the middle of the movement is a transition to an old world. I use my personal ancestry from Ireland as a foundation from which to rediscover one's lineage and explore the meaning and value of a cultural legacy. The exploration evolves into a four- and five-part fugue with a reel, jig, air, countered bass and the motif from the principal theme. All these elements, dances and melodies appear simultaneously and converge to form a unique insight to life's consequences from a historical perspective. Following the fugue, the principal theme finds its way back in. It sounds much as it did at birth. In the end, the solo violin cadenza carries the last earthly breaths before the violin and orchestra once again join in harmony to focus on a new life being transformed somewhere else. Life's four seasons in perpetuity. The American Seasons (guitar part – violin and string orchestra) MO148CGuitar Part (score and parts available)Music by Mark O’Connor46 pages - 38:00 minutes in length The American Seasons(Seasons Of An American Life)The American Seasons (Seasons Of An American Life) is a concerto for Violin And Chamber Orchestra. A Little Piece Of Heaven for Flute Choir

Flute, Woodwind Choir or Ensemble, Flute Choir - Advanced Intermediate - Digital Download By Avenged Sevenfold. Arranged by Lisa Ochoco. Score, Set of Parts. 31 pages. Published by Lisa Ochoco
Flute choir meets heavy metal!<br> <br> Avenged Sevenfold is one of my absolute favorite heavy metal bands. I don't usually hear a flute choir when I listen to their songs, or mostly any heavy metal songs for that matter, but A Little Piece of Heaven is so creative, so musical, and so funny, that I couldn't help it. Also, Oingo Boingo headed up the instrumental parts of the original song, which is evident.<br> <br> If you are unfamiliar with heavy metal, you don't need to know anything about this song, other than it's incredibly unique and has to be played with an attitude. Accentuate the down beats, lay off the full vibratos, keep pushing the tempo - it never should slow down, and channel your inner rocker.<br> <br> This song was the brainchild of the late James "The Rev" Sullivan. With the help of Oingo Boingo musicians, the song was scored to include an orchestra, full wind section, and choir. This arrangement is less than half the length of the original song, but it still clocks in at around 3 1/2 minutes.<br> <br> This arrangement is scored for 4 flutes, alto, bass, contrabass, and upright string bass or keyboard. It is essential that there is a strong bass line. The upright bass part could also be played by any bass clef C instrument, like a euphonium, trombone, or tuba. If you are lucky enough to know a drummer, that would help a great deal too. I did not include a drum part, only because I am not knowledgeable enough at writing for drums and would rather leave it out than mess it up!<br> <br> I hope you and your group will enjoy playing this song as much as I enjoyed arranging it. And I hope your audience will like it too!
