For Violin and Piano. Composed by Sir Peter Maxwell Davies (1934-). This edition: Sheet music. Sheet Music Edition. Downloadable. Duration 15 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q6913. Published by Schott Music - Digital
Sir Peter Maxwell Davies is universally acknowledged as one of the foremost composers of our time and as he reaches his 75th birthday in 2009 he remains prolific.
The sonata for violin and piano was written for the virtuoso violinist, Ilya Gringolts and first performed at the St Magnus Festival in Orkney in 2008. . The work is principally concerned with Italian architecture and the music takes both performers and audience across an imaginary walkway over Rome as proposed by the architect Giuseppe Rebecchini. . Starting at the 17th Century Chiesa Nuova the exceptional journey passes Renaissance churches, exhibition spaces, the river Tiber, glass faç.ades, sculptures and even a prison where a Lazio folk tune can be heard echoing from behind the walls. . The journey ends 15 minutes later at Gianicolo, an area where one can take in breathtaking views over the whole city.

Piano Solo - Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Camille Saint- Saens (1835-1921). Arranged by César Madeira. 20th Century, Modern, Repertoire, European, Children's Music. Score. 3 pages. Published by Cesar Madeira
The Swan (Le Cygne) 13º movement from The Carnival of the Animals Suite. An Arragement for Piano Solo. With Full Score. Fingered. Enjoy!
Camille Saint-Saens (1835 - 1921) was a French composer, pianist and organist. He was one of the greatest composers of his day. He composed lots of music of different kinds. Among his best works are his Symphony no 3 (with organ) , Piano Concerto no 2, Violin Concerto no 3, Cello Concerto no 1, the opera Samson and Delilah and the Danse Macabre. His most popular work, however, is the Carnival of the Animals. Saint-Saens hated being thought of as ?the composer of the Carnival of the Animals". He said he had only written it for a bit of fun and he did not want anyone to perform it. Today it still remains one of the most popular pieces for children.

Allegro (from "Sonata for Trumpet") (Bb) (Violoncello Octet)
Violoncello Octet - Advanced Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Henry Purcel…
Violoncello Octet - Advanced Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Henry Purcell (1659-1695). Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque Period, Repertoire, General Instructional, European, Recital. Score, Set of Parts. 13 pages. Published by Regis Bookshar
Violoncello Octet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. This arrangement of the "Allegro" movement from Henry Purcell's Sonata for Trumpet would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services. It is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. This selection is one of the arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library, many of which are being made available for the first time. They have performed the Trumpet Quintet version of this composition quite often for numerous weddings and other special occasions. The original composition was written in D Major but Regis Bookshar has transposed it to Bb Major, making it a little easier for many modern musicians. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (13 pages). The 17th century composer, Henry Purcell, is generally considered to be one of the greatest English composers of his generation. His Sonata for Trumpet and Strings in D Major, composed in 1694, was probably written for the London Theatre, where a fine tradition of trumpet playing had developed. Purcell almost certainly had in mind either John Shore or his brother, William, the most renowned trumpet players in England at the time. The trumpets of the time were normally tuned in D and there were no valves on the Baroque trumpets, so they were limited in the number of notes that they could play. The term "Sonata" here probably means no more than "a piece of incidental music" and looks forward to the style that would become the solo concerto where soloist and strings are pitted against each other but also looks back to an older type of instrumental music which emphasized equality between members of the ensemble. The music is in three movements and looks forward to the "fast-slow-fast" plan popularized by Vivaldi's concertos. Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists, besides trumpet players, could also have the opportunity to play the "Allegro" movement from Purcell's Sonata for Trumpet, so he has created other arrangements of this selection. This particular arrangement is for a Violoncello Octet, consisting of 8 Violoncellos, but there are Quintets, Sextets, Septets and Octets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this piece. You may find something else that may suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a wide variety of styles also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check back periodically because new arrangements are added as often as possible. I'm certain that this exciting arrangement of Purcell's "Allegro" from his Sonata for Trumpet will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

Clarinet, Woodwind Choir or Ensemble, Alto Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Contra-Bass Clarinet (Optional) - Advanced Intermediate - Digital Download By Hans Zimmer/Ryan Rubin/Alex Gi. Arranged by Wayne Neilson (APRA/AMCOS/MAGA). Score, Set of Parts. 18 pages. Published by Wayne Neilson
This arrangement is a beautiful rendition of the Zimmer/Rubin/Gibson original. Material is treated true to the original, emulating the lyrical nature and forward thrust of the piece. perfectly suited to a Clarinet Choir. The main melodic and harmonic themes are seamlessly shared by each of the instruments, melodic runs interweave and dovetail amongst the main theme. The arrangement and voicing captures the variety of tones that a Clarinet Choir can produce, capturing that fantastic Organ sound from the original movie score. A great arrangement for official Ceremonies, Corporate events, School, College, or Community ensembles. Visit my website and subscribe to stay up to date with the latest arrangements.

Album & Songbook Review by: Kathy Parsons
I love this CD! It constantly amazes me how many outstanding composer/pianists there are out there - especially in relation to the few who are highly (commercially) successful within this broad genre. I would say that Active Imagination definitely belongs near the top of the heap. Isadar?s style is original, and his pianism is excellent. He lists his inspirations as Liz Story, Keith Jarrett, and Bill Evans, and I can hear traces of all three in his playing, but find his composing and playing styles to be uniquely his own.
The first three tracks are lively and upbeat (?Active Imagination?, ?Throwing the Dice?, and ?Where the Wild Things Are?) with an easy, jazzy, improvised feel. The meter changes are fascinating, and the bluesy beat on ?Wild Things? is infectious.
From there, the mood seems to gradually darken and become more introspective. ?Waiting? is a beautiful, flowing mood piece full of questions and a lovely melody line. Isadar?s cover of Liz Story?s ?Wedding Rain? is wonderful - this is a piece I often work on with my advanced students, and everything about Isadar?s interpretation of the piece seems right without being a carbon-copy of Liz?s recording.
?Feu Follet (the ?spook? light?)? has a nice, easy flow with a strong sense of mystery; it also has an unusual rhythm that lightens the mood and adds a bounce. ?Uncertainty? is cooler and more aloof, but gorgeous in its flowing introspection - that it ends with a major chord, feels like the soul-searching has had positive results. ?Love Chaconne? is the closing track, and is the longest and most abstract piece on the CD. The left hand plays a repeated pattern while the right hand goes off in several different directions (one of the primary characteristics of a ?chaconne?). Beautiful in its simplicity, this is the only track that seems to contain an element of pain and sorrow, but never dissolves into melodrama.
Active Imagination is excellent from start to finish and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes solo piano with substance and complexity, but is still accessible, melodic, and rhythmic. Bravo amundo!
Active Imagination Sheet Music Collection is the companion songbook to Isadar?s 1999 CD release, Active Imagination. The CD was one of my favorites for the year when I reviewed it for the print version of ?Wind and Wire? magazine, so I was really looking forward to the sheet music! Transcribed note-for-note by David Shenton of ShentonMusic.com (I proofed about half of the book, so I can attest to how accurate it is!), it is up to you to make the music sound as close to the CD as you want or to interpret the music and make your own statements with it.
One thing that really stands out about this collection is how much FUN it is to play. The rhythms are interesting and catchy, and the mood in several of the songs is playful and upbeat. This is especially true with the title song, ?Throwing the Dice,? ?Where the Wild Things Are,? and ?Feu Follet (the ?spook? light).? ?Waiting,? ?Love Chaconne,? and ?Uncertainty? are slower, more introspective, and a bit moody, making this a sheet music collection that contains a variety of moods and styles. The only piece missing from the book is Liz Story?s ?Wedding Rain,? but the sheet music for that song is available in some of Ms. Story?s own collections.
Early-advanced players should have no trouble with this music. The timing on some of the songs is a little bit tricky, but if you count it as you are learning it, it will fall into place.
If you haven?t heard the CD, check it out, too! This book is available here from SMP, isadar.com and amazon.com. Highly recommended!

Violin - intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Charles Dancla (1817-1907). This edition: Sheet music. Essential Exercises. Downloadable. Op. 84. Schott Music - Digital #Q11448. Published by Schott Music - Digital
Charles Dancla (1817-1907) is considered to be the last great representative of the French Violin School. He was a composer, solo violinist at the Paris Opera and professor at the Paris Conservatoire and wrote numerous educational works for violin, including his well-known three-volume work Little School of Melody'. He knew, in a unique way, how to implement the principle 'no music without technique, no technique without music' in his teaching material. This is the case in his easy melodic studies Op. 84 which are available here in an arrangement for viola for the first time. These studies are perfectly suited for young beginners after the second year, but also for adult players, false beginners or those switching instruments. Most of them can be effectively used as little performance pieces, providing an excellent foundation for every advanced etude or concert piece.
Each study is preceded by new or revised exercises which either deal with specific problems relating to the playing technique, like change of string, spiccato, martele, chromaticism, change of position, octaves, or double stops, or present the tonal material of the respective study in a condensed, playful form. Those who prefer Dancla's somewhat easier original preliminary exercises will find them in the appendix.

The Prayer is one of those few songs that will remain a timeless classic. It stirs the emotions as true conversation with God Almighty always does. Arranged for advanced intermediate piano solo, the style is simple and elegant. R.H. 3rds, 6ths, and a few octave chords; L.H. arpeggios, and helpful fingering. While R.H. plays two voices, make sure the the primary melody is always played a level above the secondary melody (it is marked with dynamics). Written by the great David Foster and Carole Bayer Sager, arranged by Amy J. Snyder. Wonderful piece for church preludes, offertories and special music, or just to share with friends and family.
