The Istanbuler Kompositionen for the instrumentation ud, kanun, tanbur, violin, viola, violoncello and percussion have been composed during a three month scholarship by the Berlin Government (Senatsverwaltung fur Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kultur) in Istanbul. The pieces are inspired by the poems of Yunus Emre (14th century) and by traditional Turkish music.
