The composer Eduard Putz (1911-2000) studied composition at the Musikhochschule in Cologne with Heinrich Lemacher, Hermann Schroeder, and Kaspar Roeseling. Later he worked as a teacher of theory at the Rheinische Musikschule in Cologne. His particular interest was in connecting serious with light music.'Jazz Capriccio' is a cheerful piece with a 'composed-out' final cadence which, within the meaning of a jazz improvisation, can also be replaced by an improvisation of one's own. A rewarding piece for musicans interested in combining contemporary music with jazz.
