In Satoshi Yagisawas SAXOPHONE CONCERTINO the solo instrument is integrated with the accompaniment rather than being separate. The romantic-sounding solo chorale in the first half of the work sounds wonderful on the alto saxophone. A lively allegrois heard in the second movement referencing music of the baroque era with the solo now played on the soprano saxophone but by the same soloist. This work is also available in an editon for saxophone and wind orchestra (DHP 1115180-010).
