Slidable Cam The upper cam section slides back and forth in a non-step action to adjust the cam-turning radius. A larger turning radius provides for a more linear motion between footboard and beater and results in a high-degree of sensitivity for nuanced performance. The MANLEY VARIABLE MU® LIMITER COMPRESSOR has been our best selling product for many yea...(+) The MANLEY VARIABLE MU® LIMITER COMPRESSOR has been our best selling product for many years. It is one of the very few compressors that has become a real standard in Mastering studios and contributed to most hit records over the last decade and probably the next. Mu is tube-speak for gain, and Variable Mu® is our registered trademark for this limiter compressor. It works by using the remote cut-off or re-biasing of a vacuum tube to achieve compression. The precious vintage Fairchild 670 also uses this technique and is one of few all-tube compressor to do so, that we know of. Even the side-chain has glowing rectifier bottles. How s it work The unique 5670 dual triode is at the center of the peak-reducing and compression action constantly being re-biased by the vacuum tube rectified side-chain control voltages which cause this tube to smoothly change its gain. Just like that. The COMPRESS mode is soft-knee 1.5 to 1 ratio while the sharper knee LIMIT mode starts at 4 to 1 and moves to a more dramatic ratio of 20 to 1 when limiting over 12dB. Interestingly, the knee actually softens as more limiting is used. Distortion can be creatively used by turning up the Input and turning down the Output while using very little or no compression. See the gain reduction curves here! You might notice that the Variable Mu® Limiter Compressor has a ganged input control, but do not jump to conclusions that it is mono-unfriendly. Track away! Dual Linkage To convert rotational motion force from footboard to cam, we developed a sturdy double-link cam connection system that holds the rotation axis bearings equally from both sides. This produces almost perfect energy transfer from the footboard-to-cam and creates phenomenal reaction speed and power. Slidable Cam The upper cam section slides back and forth in a non-step action to adjust the cam-turning radius. A larger turning radius provides for a more linear motion between footboard and beater and results in a high-degree of sensitivity for nuanced performance. The smaller turning radius results in a more dynamic (non-linear) motion. The Slidable Cam promotes a highly personalized and connected feel tailored to widely diverse playing styles. Footboard Angle Adjustment Drummers have come to recognize and appreciate independent bass drum footboard angle adjustment as an important function to help customize a personal feel. This inspired us to focus on the Dyna-Sync design and create a completely new and unique footboard angle adjustment. The Dyna-Sync footboard angle design integrates into the clam-shaped connection point between linkage and footboard and is fully adjustable to deliver a totally personalized pedal angle adjustment. Sync-Coil The Sync-Coil is a 1.5x heavier gauge steel spring compared to our established Cobra Coil. The Sync-Coil assists the return of the footboard to the original position to provide an extra element of quickness to the pedal and slides on the bass plate so drummers can customize their own level of pedal return assistance. Dyna Beater Featuring black felt and a slightly tapered shape, this traditional style beater provides impact to the bass drum head surface evenly to maximize clear, dynamic articulation. Hinge Guard Block We've changed the construction of the Bearing Hinge on the footplate from a one-piece assembly to two pieces, which holds the bearing more evenly - minimizing stress, and maximizing smoothness, while adding to the pedal's sense of power. Swivel Spring Tight (US.PAT.NO.9236038) The conventional approach to the spring assembly (including previous Iron Cobra Pedals) has been to anchor the bottom of the spring while the top of the spring is being pulled from various angles throughout the pedal's cycle. But a spring being pulled on at an angle represents wasted energy and causes turbulence. The Swivel Spring Tight assembly solves this problem, recapturing that lost energy and optimizing smoothness through the use of a contoured assembly that allows the base to swivel freely with the spring. This enables a straight spring pull during the pedal's entire cycle, resulting in the smoothest, lightest action ever found on a bass drum pedal. Speedo-Ring TAMA eliminated another source of friction by replacing the traditional nylon rocker cam with the Speedo-Ring, a rocker cam with a high quality built-in ball bearing rocker. Express yourself! Until now, you could get more from your pedals by adding a tap tempo foo...(+) Express yourself! Until now, you could get more from your pedals by adding a tap tempo footswitch or an expression pedal. Truthfully, what was called an expression pedal was more of a control pedal that would have the exact same effect as turning a knob with your foot. Very handy obviously, but not too creative. With the introduction of the Spinner, here comes the first expression pedal worthy of the name. Turn, turn, turn The traditional expression pedal came along because of a simple fact, which is that its extremely difficult to change your settings with both hands already busy playing the guitar. Many of us have already found themselves waiting impatiently for the next silence in the song to finally get a chance to turn a knob. In those situations, a control pedal is a precious tool, and effect manufacturers have been catering to that demand from the Uni-Vibe and its pedal in 1969 to Line 6s Helix and its three control pedals. But until now, no one had designed a pedal that really extended the possibilities of the main effect, allowing you to express yourself artistically. Until the Spinner came along. The idea came to us while working on the Sliver pedal, looking for ways to make the simple tremolo effect more lively and exciting. It took us months of research to come up with the magnetic system, and we had to track down a local French craftsman to build the made-to-measure metallic part. Heres how the Spinner works: the metallic boomerang-like metallic star with three blades is mounted on a screw inspired by a skateboard. It has a magnet under each blade which gets detected by the Sensor to send your rotation rate to the circuit. Therefore, the effect gets affected every time your kick the star in a manner that you have previously chosen thanks to the switch on the back of the pedal (placed there for it not to get in the way of your kicks!) You can choose to make the effect faster until the Spinner stops turning, at which point the rate goes back to the one that has been entered through the regular tap tempo footswitch. On the contrary, the effect can be slowed down following the same pattern. Finally, a killswitch mode makes a stuttering sound synchronized with the rate of the Spinner. In the first two modes, you can even kick the star when your main pedal is switched off, and the Spinner will trigger the effect for a limited time until it stops turning. Holding a chord at the end of a bridge and looking to give it a dramatic intensity A nice dose of harmonic tremolo kicking in at full speed and then stopping suddenly should do the trick! Since the rotation of the Spinner is the source of expression, you can stop the effect or go back to the original speed just by stopping the star with your foot. Weve also designed a magnet that you can use to make the Spinner slow down earlier: its effect is now shorter, and you dont even need to stop it with your foot anymore. There are no knobs on the surface to avoid accidents, but youll find three trimpots inside in order to control the speed threshold that activates the effect if it was turned off, the threshold that deactivates that effect and the acceleration or deceleration rate of the effect. For now, the Spinner is compatible with the Sliver tremolo pedal and the Ages harmonic tremolo pedal, taking their possibilities so far that it becomes inseparable. But you know how Anasounds work, were already working on more compatible pedals to come, since theres a strong possibility that youre gonna want to use the Spinner with every pedal you own once you get hip to its magic! | |

It is one of the very few compressors that has become a real standard in Mastering studios and contributed to most hit records over the last decade and probably the next. Mu is tube-speak for gain, and Variable Mu® is our registered trademark for this limiter compressor. It works by using the remote cut-off or re-biasing of a vacuum tube to achieve compression. The precious vintage Fairchild 670 also uses this technique and is one of few all-tube compressor to do so, that we know of. Even the side-chain has glowing rectifier bottles. How s it work The unique 5670 dual triode is at the center of the peak-reducing and compression action constantly being re-biased by the vacuum tube rectified side-chain control voltages which cause this tube to smoothly change its gain. Just like that. The COMPRESS mode is soft-knee 1.5 to 1 ratio while the sharper knee LIMIT mode starts at 4 to 1 and moves to a more dramatic ratio of 20 to 1 when limiting over 12dB. Interestingly, the knee actually softens as more limiting is used. Distortion can be creatively used by turning up the Input and turning down the Output while using very little or no compression. See the gain reduction curves here! You might notice that the Variable Mu® Limiter Compressor has a ganged input control, but do not jump to conclusions that it is mono-unfriendly. Track away!
