Gasparo da Salo Viola 1580 walnut, handmade in Germany by master luthier Florian Hertzsch, Gasparo Bertolotti ' daSaló ' is considered to be one of Brescia`s most successful luthiers. Not only was he a musician which was enormously helpful in perfectioning the sound-quality of his instruments, but also he trained and taught famous luthiers like Maggini. Gasparo da Saló is well known for his amazingly full and low sounding instruments, the small viola from 1580 being one of them. The high arching of top- and back-plate in addition to the enormous width of the body result in an extraordinary richness of sound.
