Written in 2001 by petition of the trombone player Ricardo Casero. The piece is structured in two movements without interruption, separated by a sizable "Cadenza". The composer has orchestrated this sonata for strings, piano and percussion under the title "Sonata-Concertino for trombone and orchestra".
