Added by alastair-lewis, 14 Oct 2011 This piece is suitable for a beginner. It is written in the key of C major. The time signature is 3/4 and the tempo is Andantino. There is a 4 bar introduction. This folk song hails from South Africa where it is deeply ingrained in Afrikaans culture. The song originated in Europe however, with its distinctive 3/4 style it is reminiscent of the Minuet, and also the Polish Mazurka. A similar tune appears in some German and American folk song albums called "Varsovienne" (Warsaw Dance). The Varsovienne combined elements of the Waltz, Mazurka and the Polka. Jan Pierewiet is often used as music to accompany dancing. This free sheet music is for Flute duet. Sheet central : | Jan Pierewiet (17 sheet music) | |
