Ajoutée par alfredo17, 10 Mar 2021 Christian Gottlob August Bergt (1771 - 1837) was the son of a Saxonian musician. He studied in Leipzig and became organist in Bautzen, where he stayed for lifetime. He was a fruitful composer of nearly all genres, but now is nearly forgotten. He composed the ‘Divertimento per il Corno di Bassetto’ for solo basset horn with orchestra, probably for a musical friend in Bautzen. The wind instruments in the orchestra mainly produce the specific sound, but do not contribute much musical substance. Therefore it was possible to elaborate a reduction of the orchestra to string quartet. The piece comprises an introduction and variations and demands an experienced basset horn player. |
