Ajoutée par crosby3145, 06 Déc 2022 Alternate tune for O Little Town of Bethlehem. Walford Davies may be virtually unknown today, but he was all the rage in Great Britain in the early part of the 20th Century. Best remembered for his hymns today, Davies also wrote three symphonies, many other orchestral compositions, and several violin sonatas. Following the death of Edward Elgar in 1934, Davies was named the Master of the King's Music, a post which he held under Georges V and VI until his (Davies's) death in 1941. He also appeared regularly on BBC Radio, directing concerts and telling people about music. Was another O Little Town of Bethlehem needed? Probably not, but with a composer as good as that giving his attention to it, it shouldn't be ignored. Perfect for a pianist looking for a Christmas song they haven't heard yet this year. Merry Christmas! |
