Ajoutée par crosby3145, 08 Jui 2023 Thomas Hastings's tune is the best-known for these words, but Soul-Stirring Songs & Hymns includes this delightful alternate tune by S. Wilder (though it cuts it out of the index, for some reason - 486, if you have the older version). The 3/4 setting is rather waltz-like, and I drew from (or attempted to draw from) the style of Chopin in getting this arrangement ready. I hope it is a blessing to you! 1. From ev’ry stormy wind that blows, From ev’ry swelling tide of woes, There is a calm, a sure retreat: ‘Tis found beneath the mercy-seat. 2. There is a place where Jesus sheds The oil of gladness on our heads; A place than all besides more sweet: It is the blood-bought mercy-seat. 3. There is a scene where spirits blend, Where friend holds fellowship with friend; Tho’ sundered far, by faith they meet Around one common mercy-seat. 4. Oh, let my hand forget her skill, My tongue be silent, cold and still, This bounding heart forget to beat, If I forget the mercy-seat! |
