In honour of Ludwig van Beethovens 250 birthday, I made this adaption and orchestration of his 33 Variations on a Waltz by Anton Diabelli for chamber orchestra (2 flutes, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and strings). The 33 Variations, Op. 120, is a set of variations for the piano written between 1819 and 1823. Some music writers and soloists describe the set as “the greatest of all piano works” (Alfred Brendel) and "a microcosm of Beethoven's art" (Hans von Bülow). Arnold Schönberg writes in his Structural Functions of Harmony, that the Variations - in respect of its harmony - deserves to be called the most adventurous work by Beethoven.
