N.K. Madsen-Stensgaard (1850 - 1927) Danemark Niels Kristian Madsen-Stensgaard ( 26 October 1850 in Bellinge Parish - 3 March 1927 in Skotterup ) was a Danish organist, singing teacher and composer.
He was trained as a teacher at Jelling Seminarium in 1870 and the same year was employed as a music teacher at Gedved Seminarium and second teacher at Gedved School. However, he soon chose to travel to Copenhagen to further his education, among other things. in organ playing and conducting, while teaching. He had Jørgen Malling , Johan Christian Gebauer and Gottfred Matthison-Hansen as teachers. Jørgen Malling was an advocate of the so-called Chevèse method, which Madsen-Stensgaard also praised. In the following years, Stensgaard held several posts in and around Copenhagen, including he was organist in Brønshøj Church , and he published a number of school songbooks. In addition, he published from 1880-1884Journal of Church, School and Folk Song , which was to bring the song material out to the places where it was needed. 1902-1906 he worked as a teacher at the Statens Lærerhøjskole .
