Gasparo da Salo Viola 1580 walnut, handmade in Germany by master luthier Florian Hertzsch, Gasparo Bertolotti ' daSaló ' is considered to be one of Brescia`s most successful luthiers. Not only was he a musician which was enormously helpful in perfectioning the sound-quality of his instruments, but also he trained and taught famous luthiers like Maggini. Gasparo da Saló is well known for his amazingly full and low sounding instruments, the small viola from 1580 being one of them. The high arching of top- and back-plate in addition to the enormous width of the body result in an extraordinary richness of sound. Here we have a extremely light-weight viola featuring a short scale and a big tone. This copy of a Gasparo da Saló viola might be the perfect instrument for viola players, who are searching for a comfortable and easy to play viola. Spruce top (Picea abies), back and sides made of walnut, ebony fingerboard (Diospyros crassiflora), ebony fittings, homemade antiqued amber-based oil-varnish based on the model of Italian masters, a thin layer of laquer enables the tone-woods to swing freely, traces of wear in the pattern of ancient Italian violins, maximum optimization of sound by final adjustment of soundpost and bridge, length of the back: 392mm / 15,5", belly stop 209mm, neck stop 139mm, comes with Thomastik Dominant strings, cerificate included, comes with Jakob Winter Viola Shaped Case 51015 CAB.
