The
French-speaking Flemish
singer, composer and
lyricist Jacques Brel was
born in Brussels in 1929.
In the 1950s, he broke
away from his bourgeois
social background of his
family and started an
artist’s life in Paris,
where he initially wrote
chansons and earned a
living by performing in
small cabarets and bars.
Over the following years
he achieved worldwide
fame with his chansons,
which were alternately
harsh and melancholic
Roland Kernen has
selected a number of the
wonderful chansons
written by this most
creative artist to
produce this
unforgettable chanson
medley.
De
Franstalige Vlaamse
zanger, componist en
tekstschrijver Jacques
Brel (1929-1978) spreekt
ook vandaag de dag nog
tot de verbeelding en
zijn muziek is nog altijd
geliefd. In zijn
Brel-medley voor
harmonieorkest verwerkte
RolandKernen een aantal
van de prachtige chansons
die deze onvergetelijke
artiest schreef:
Vesoul, Amsterdam, Ne me
quitte pas (Laat me niet
alleen) en La valse mille
temps.
Mit
seinen Chansons, die mal
barsche, mal
melancholische Töne
aufweisen, erlangte der
flämische Sänger,
Komponist und Lyriker
Jacques Brel in den
fünfziger und sechziger
Jahren des vergangenen
Jahrhunderts Weltruhm.
Auch weit über seinen
Tod im Jahr 1978 hinaus
kennt und liebt die Welt
seine Lieder. In seinem
Medley für Blasorchester
verarbeitete Roland
Kernen einige der
wundervollen Chansons
dieses unvergessenen
Künstlers.
Auteur,
compositeur, chanteur,
acteur, cinéaste mais
avant tout poète,
Jacques Brel (1929-1978)
a magnifié la chanson
française.Par la
justesse de ses textes,
par son talent
d’interprétation, cet
artiste - obsédé par la
mort et amoureux de la
vie - a su trouver les
mots qui, génération
après génération,
continuent de nous
toucher. Près de trente
ans après sa mort, sa
voix, sa désespérance
et sa rage résonnent
toujours en nous.
Autore,
compositore, cantante,
attore, cineasta ma
soprattutto poeta,
Jacques Brel (1929-1978)
ha rappresentato
magnificamente la canzone
francese. Con i suoi
testi, il suo talento di
interpretazione, questo
artista - ossesso dalla
morte e innamorato della
vita - ha saputo trovare
le parole che continuano
a commuoverci anche
trent’anni dopo la sua
morte.
