Winner of the first and third prize at the II. International Rachmaninov-Competition for Composition (2015-2016), organized by the Internationale e.V Rachmaninov-Gesellschaft, Germany.
In March this year Bareilles performed at the Manhattan School of Music, New York, his works Urbanisolation, Toccata Camila, Balada para Demian by the renowned Argentine guitarist Federico Diaz.
In early 2016 the ensemble "The Fourth Wall" premiered his work "Milonguella"
at the Boston Conservatory, as part of its series of contemporary artists, and Le Poisson Rouge (New York), as part of the Chamber Music America's pre-conference concert, sponsored by the University of South Carolina and the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore).
In March 2015 the “Orchestra of the Youth Cultural Center Skopje” of Macedonia premièred his piece “Eurythmia”.
The multi-faceted and wide repertoire of the pianist and composer Miguel Bareilles focusses on his own solo piano pieces, which are characterized by their virtuosity, stylistic complexity and Latin American inspiration. His compositions, which include also Chamber and Symphonic music, are based on a fusion of classical music, tango, different South American rhythms with jazz, although without abandoning their classic-romantic essence.
Bareilles started his piano lessons with Evi Zwillinger de Giangrante when he was 7 years old, studying later at the National Conservatory of Music “Carlos López Buchardo” and at the “Instituto Superior de Música Popular" of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Since 1981 he presented himself as piano soloist at the “Leopoldo Lugones” Theater of Buenos Aires, where he premièred his first composition “Pequeña Sonatina Bonaerense”.
Bareilles has presented his solo piano compositions at the stages of Germany: “Elias Kuppelsaal”, “Otto Braun Saal”, at the Concert hall of the School of music of the “Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster”, Russian Theater; of Argentina: Theater of the “Fondo Nacional de las Artes”, “Roberto García Morillo” concert hall; as well as in China: Yixing Theatre, Enshi Theatre, Huangshi Theatre, Beilun Theater, Ningbo Grand Theatre, Dezhou Theatre, among others.
He is author of some symphonies, a concert for violin and orchestra and various Symphonic Works. Most of his compositions are nevertheless chamber music like: “Grande Sonate Tanguistique”, “Toccata Camila”, “Folkkata” (toccata concertante), “Agua” (guitar and string quartet), “Secretos de Buenos Aires” (suite concertante), “Casandriana”, besides others.
In 2011 Bareilles received the “Chinaart award” of "Best new artist of the year” (Hangzhou, China).
In 2014 he presented with huge success a selection of his solo piano pieces at the “II International Piano Congress” called "Pianistic Virtuosity of Latin-American composers” that took place at the National University of Arts in Buenos Aires.
Miguel Bareilles concerts have been broadcast live on Chinese television. Bareilles has also directed and produced over twenty music videos of their works, which are emitted from 2012 permanently by the Arpeggio TV channel TDA, Argentina.
