Eulenstein was the son of the soap boiler Eulenstein Georg Heinrich (1776-1807) and Johanna Christiane née Winzelburger (1779-1844) was born in Heilbronn, and after the early death of his father in a master dyer in costs. He was interested in early music, learned the violin and wanted to be musicians, but was, by his guardian to an apprenticeship in a trade Heilbronner door.
