Ajoutée par douglas-brooks-davies, 02 Oct 2013 A joyous homophonic setting of the Te Deum by Queen Victoria's husband, HRH Albert, Prince Consort (1819- 61). An easy piece for the average SATB choir. The multi-talented Prince Albert wrote a considerable amount of music, mainly song and choral, during his short life. Most of his work was published as The Collected Compositions of HRH Prince Albert, ed. W.G.Cusins (London, n.d. [1882]). Cusins, Master of the Queen's Musick and Queen Victoria's private organist, had known the Prince well, so the edition carries considerable authority. The present edition uses Cusins as copy- text, modernising the original's alto and tenor clefs, and adding tempo markings. N.B. All editorial additions are marked by round or, occasionally, square, brackets. |
