Ajoutée par magataganm, 05 Avr 2015 Domenico Zipoli (1688 -- 1726) was an Italian Baroque composer. He became a Jesuit in order to work in the Reductions of Paraguay where his musical expertise contributed to develop the natural musical talents of the Guaranis. He is remembered as the most accomplished musician among Jesuit missionaries. Zipoli continues to be well known today for his keyboard music. His Italian compositions have always been known but recently some of his South American church music was discovered in Chiquitos, Bolivia: two Masses, two psalm settings, three Office hymns, a Te Deum laudamus and other pieces. "Truly, this music is a gift from heaven, only the Father's love, devotion and sacrifice of a mother's love, the torrent of infinite light of God may comfort the soul, this music has the spark of divine ancestry, and only in areas of inconceivable love may have had its birth such beauty full of love ..." Although originally written for Oboe, Cello, Strings & Organ, I created this arrangement for Strings (Solo and accompaniment Violin, Viola & Cellos) & Harp to accentuate the somewhat romantic intricate overtones and haunting transitions of this baroque piece. |
