A Christmas carol for voice (violin) and piano. The
lyrics are printed in the sheet music and are also
shown below. I composed this poem and Christmas carol
for my fiancé after making snow angels together on a
beautiful winter's day:
"I Love You Still" -- by Erica Beay
A wintry chill is in the air
and snow lies on our sledding hill
where we once made an angel pair,
and I love you still.
Our limbs in boots and gloves swept wide,
like swimming in the snow until
our angel wings met, side by side,
and I love you still.
You were the dearest love of mine
that ten good books would easily fill,
for life with you has been divine,
and I love you still.
You are the deepest love of mine
with whom my dreams are all fulfilled,
for you have made my life divine,
and I love you still.
Now someday if our hands last hold
and I can neither yearn nor thrill,
I hope you'll still hear how I told
you, “I love you still.”
Just like we touched our angel wings
beneath the heavens where birds trill,
beside you now my memory sings,
“I love you still.”
And if a loving god created
us with tenderness and will,
I think that god would gently state,
“I love you still.”
So just as snowy angels stay
around us when we're finally still,
God will help you hear me say,
“I love you still.”
Oh, I love you still.
