E' una marcia sinfonica strutturata in modo diverso rispetto a una tradizionale marcia in quanto è un susseguirsi di temi ed intermezzi che la rendono particolare all'ascolto. ogni singolo strumento è fondamentale per ben comprendere l'atmosfera della marcia,infatti ogni strumento rappresenta un possibile erede al trono di Persia. L'introduzione crea tensione e suspance per dieci battute, poi la marcia esplode in un inno trionfale eseguito da tutti gli strumenti tra i quali le trombe hanno un particolare rilievo. segue il primo tema dei sassofoni e del flicorno baritono con l'accompagnamento di corni e tromboni a mo' di beguine. questo tema si ripete due volte col controcanto dei clarinetti e colcon l'aggiunta della bassa musica. Segue un altro tema di quattro battute ripetuto per sei volte suonato inizialmente dai primi clarinetti con l'accompagnamento del sax tenore, alla seconda volta si aggiungono i corni, alla terza e trombe e i tromboni, poi i bassi ed infine tutta la banda. L'entrata di uno o due strumenti alla volta vuole rappresentare la presenza di tanti eredi al trono , ma resta ancora da capire chi sarà il prescelto! La seconda parte si apre con un tema orientaleggiante eseguito dai clarinetti :il compositore si è ispirato alle atmosfere orientali.questo tema è ripetuto due volte con l'entrata progressiva di tutti gli strumenti che eseguiranno accordi di sesta, di nona e di settima, l'aggiunta della bassa musica accentuerà ancora di più i colori orientali. La marcia si conclude con un grandioso in sol bemolle maggiore diverso da tutti i temi precedenti: il sultano di Persia ha dunque scelto il suo successore. ENGLISH : "Heirs to the throne" was written in summer 2008.
