Between the variations there is an ostinato in another style, moving through all the minor keys. In Holland we cal it a 'kwintencirkel', a circle of fifths. I arrived here thinking this version was for flute, oboe, and piano. I did not realize it also has a violin part. Fortunately, the "other version" is for flute, oboe, and piano, just what I wanted. I will soon try it out, along with my pianist and oboist friends. |
