A masterful job of writing, and the only example I know of a double canon at the ninth. Heartbreakingly beautiful harmony and a text that if not earthshattering literature expresses a universal sentiment about patience and hope in trouble. This is Brahms at the top of his form. A favorite with every choir I've sung in for the last half-century. |
