1. History - I had by assisting my mother who was writing on a play about a group of religious refugees who had been among the first Americans to arrive in California by ship. That ship had been caught in a hurricane. In midst of storm, a pregnant passenger went into labor and gave birth to a son, who she named Atlantic as he was born on that sea. I wanted the music to express how the mother would feel about her child, her love and hope for him, so I named the music after that baby.
2. Love - I also intended to create something about how I felt about my wife.
3. Sea - My wife and I were stuck on opposite sides of a sea at the time, because government delayed approving her visa for a year. Thus the idea of a sea with a connection to love was on my mind both from the history we'd been looking into and my own experience.
